We are seeking a Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to join our vibrant school community in Croydon, starting September 2025. If you are committed to championing inclusion and ensuring every child has the support they need to thrive, we would love to hear from you!

SENCO Role

  • Start Date: September 2025
  • Location: Croydon
  • Working Hours: Full-Time
  • Contract Type: Permanent

Why You’ll Love This Role

As SENCO, you will play a key role in ensuring that every child with special educational needs receives the tailored support they require to succeed. You will work closely with staff, parents, and external agencies to create a collaborative and inclusive environment. This role offers the opportunity to make a lasting impact on students' lives while fostering a positive, supportive atmosphere in a forward-thinking school.

The School

Our supportive primary school in Croydon is dedicated to creating an inclusive and nurturing environment where every child is given the opportunity to succeed. The school has a strong focus on supporting students with a variety of needs, and the leadership team is fully committed to ensuring staff are equipped with the tools, training, and support necessary to deliver high-quality teaching for all.

What You’ll Be Doing

As SENCO, you will:

  • Lead SEN Provision: Oversee and develop the school’s SEN provision, ensuring that all students with special educational needs receive appropriate support and interventions.
  • Work Closely with Staff: Collaborate with teachers to develop tailored teaching strategies and support plans for students with SEN.
  • Assess and Monitor Progress: Lead the identification, assessment, and tracking of students with SEN, ensuring progress is consistently monitored and interventions are effectively implemented.
  • Provide Training and Guidance: Support and train staff on SEN-related issues, ensuring that the whole school community understands the needs of students with SEN and how to best support them.
  • Collaborate with Parents and External Agencies: Build strong relationships with parents and carers, providing regular updates on their child’s progress and working with external agencies to ensure the best outcomes for students.
  • Develop Individual Learning Plans: Create and implement individual education plans (IEPs) for students with SEN, ensuring they are reviewed regularly.
  • Support Inclusive Practice: Promote an inclusive culture where every child’s needs are recognized and valued, helping to remove barriers to learning.

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for a SENCO who:

  • Holds the National SENCO Award or is in the process of completing it.
  • Has experience working with children with special educational needs, ideally in a primary school setting.
  • Has a strong understanding of SEND legislation, including the SEND Code of Practice, and experience in implementing the graduated approach to SEN.
  • Is passionate about inclusive education and ensuring all children have the opportunity to achieve their potential.
  • Has excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with staff, parents, and external professionals.
  • Is organised, able to manage a diverse range of tasks and priorities, and can lead SEN initiatives effectively.
  • Is committed to continuous professional development and keeping up to date with the latest SEN research and strategies.

Why You’ll Love Working Here

  • Supportive Leadership Team: Our leadership team is committed to supporting your professional growth, ensuring you have the resources and training to succeed.
  • Professional Development: We offer ongoing development opportunities to ensure you continue to grow in your role and keep up to date with best practices in SEND.
  • Inclusive School Community: Work in a school that places inclusion at the heart of everything we do, where every student is valued and supported.
  • Well-Being Support: We are committed to staff well-being, offering a healthy work-life balance and providing a supportive, collaborative environment.
  • Competitive Salary: We offer a competitive salary with opportunities for progression and development.

How to Apply

If you are an experienced SENCO ready to make a positive impact in a supportive primary school and help lead inclusive practices that ensure every child can succeed, we want to hear from you! Apply today with your CV and application form. Interviews will be held as soon as possible, with the role starting in September 2025.
