Jewelry Designer - Variable

We are looking for an experienced jewelry designer with vast creativity and technical know-how in jewelry production who will work closely with our creative director in continusouly developing the brand's jewelry collection and bringing the brand's creative vision to life.

While the brand is london based, our workshop is in Istanbul where the design and production team are based.

As a luxury brand, our main collection is comprised of 18-karat gold and precious stones and diamonds. In parallel, the brand offers a luxury sterling silver statement collection.

You will be expected to design iconic ISTINARA jewelry; distinuished runway pieces; and more commercial pieces that cater to a wider market.

While you will be following the main vision of the creative director, we are looking for a candidate who isn't afraid to break creative boundaries while also honoring creative guidelines.

In preparation for the launch our first flagship store in Los Angeles, you will be expected to quickly immerse yourself in the development of new designs in time for its opening.

This is a hybrid job however you will be having online/ in-person meetings with the creative director and workshop as required.

This job can be freelance, project based, part time, and full time.

ROLES & RESEARCH TOPICS:

Prepare and present mood boards for the proposed core collection and supplementary designs based on Creative Director brief, brand story, research results, your own creative input
Present preliminary hand drawn designs for the approved mood boards and respective feedback alongside justifications for how the designs can be produced (technical) and worn by the future customer
Convert final hand drawn designs into 3-D renderings
Create technical files to be sent to the workshop
Ensure design is conveyed and understood properly by the workshop, and ultimately reflected in the finished goods

IMPORTANT NOTE: Only candidates who provide a portfolio demonstrating their latest work will be considered for this job. REQUIRED SKILLS:
Student from a University of Arts, School of Design, or Graphic Design specialized in jewellery
Professional experience in jewelry design
Good understanding of the jewelry industry – current and historical
Superior freehand drawing skills
Excellent gouache rendering techniques and/or proficiency in Rhino, rendering software, Adobe Creative Suite, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign

Strong knowledge of gemology as well as jewelry manufacturing and techniques.

Good communication skills
