PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £100,000 - £110,000 plus London Weighting depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

This role (Head of Strategic Delivery) sits within the newly created Strategic Planning and Delivery (SPD) function within the Global directorate of News. The purpose of this function is to drive delivery of strategic objectives across all of the Global Division, including the World Service.

Within SPD, the Strategic Delivery unit will support the Regional Directors in the delivery of their regional growth objectives. It will ensure that decisions and opportunity scoping is aligned to global growth strategy and is geared to deliver greater returns on investment, and on time. The unit will play a key role in assessing the opportunities and challenges in the market, help the Regional Director to identify the most strategically aligned ways to grow in the region across platforms, and help deliver growth in the regions. The unit will also help the Regional Director run Quarterly business reviews in the region, in close collaboration with the Regional Heads of Business and Operations.

This team will strengthen the newly created regional structure with a robust framework for assessing performance against targets, and achieving strategic goals on time. Fundamentally, this team will drive the Global director’s growth agenda, working with the Regional Directors and digital leaders in the organisation.
This role (Head of Strategic Delivery) will line manage the regional strategic delivery leads, and also be directly responsible for strategic delivery support to the Europe Regional Director. This role will also have key responsibilities in supporting Head of SPD in work on FCDO/HMG funding bids and the BBCs broader charter work.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:
• Deliver growth in reputation, reach and revenue in Europe, across English and languages, working closely with the Regional Director
• Line manage five regional leads of Strategic Delivery
• Develop best practice for regional leads of Strategic Delivery
• Contribute to the thinking and delivery of materials for FCDO/HMG engagement and BBC charter work
• Design agendas and run quarterly business performance sessions and strategic away days for the Europe region
• Support the delivery in Europe region of the central digital platform strategies, roadmaps, and priorities
• Design and lead strategic reviews for the Europe region
• Help new idea development in the region, using robust market assessment and audience context
• Work closely with Europe RHBO and regional finance to ensure delivery of strategic objectives on time and on budget
• Help run governance and investment decision approval forums and meetings in Europe, as relevant

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
• Experience of enabling high level strategic decision making at speed
• Significant line management experience, especially the management of delivery and/or strategy professionals
• Ability to work with and deploy financial, HR, market and audience data in strategic decision making, including external funding asks
• Experience of influencing and/or driving growth in a business, ideally a media business
• Experienced in working CEOs/ business heads to deliver on strategic outcomes
• Exceptional persuasion and influencing skills
• Results orientated- able to drive business outcomes
• Highly collaborative approach towards work
