Caretaker Role in a High-Performing Primary School
A high-performing Primary School in Ealing is seeking to appoint a reliable and proactive Caretaker to join its dedicated premises team. About the Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day upkeep and operation of the school site, ensuring that buildings and grounds are clean, safe, secure, and well maintained.
Working closely with the School Business Manager and leadership team, you will carry out routine maintenance tasks, complete health and safety checks, support site security, liaise with contractors, assist with room setups, and respond promptly to operational issues across the school.
This role requires a practical, organised, and dependable individual who takes pride in maintaining high standards and contributing to a positive school environment.
Key Responsibilities
Open and close the school site safely and securely
Carry out routine maintenance and minor repairs
Ensure buildings and grounds are clean, safe, and well maintained
Complete health and safety and compliance checks
Monitor heating, lighting, and building systems
Liaise with contractors and oversee maintenance visits
Assist with room setups for lessons, events, and activities
Maintain a safe and welcoming environment for pupils and staff

Candidate Requirements
Essential Requirements
Previous experience in caretaking, maintenance, premises, or facilities
Practical DIY and building maintenance skills
Good understanding of health and safety procedures
Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities
Reliable, proactive, and able to work independently
Desirable
Experience working in a school or educational setting
Knowledge of safeguarding and site security procedures
Health and safety qualification such as IOSH or equivalent
Experience coordinating contractors and maintenance schedules
