Commercial Retail Manager- South
For a quarter of a century, the Jellycat family have brought joy, wonder and playful fun to people of all ages, in every part of the world. Utterly original and in a class of their own, they are currently among the most loved and collected toys of their kind. How has this gentle tribe endeared themselves to so many? Perhaps it is their whimsical expressions. Or the deliciously soft fabrics. Or the beautiful way in which they sit in your hand. Whatever it is, there is something magical and unmistakeable about each one of them.
The Commercial Retail Manager is responsible for protecting, embedding and elevating retail standards across Jellycat’s physical retail environments, acting as a highly visible, hands‑on presence in market.
Reporting into the Senior Commercial Retail Manager, this role operates as Jellycat’s day‑to‑day “eyes and ears” in store, ensuring brand standards are met, maintained and continuously improved once environments are live. The role does not own commercial targets or sales budgets; its focus is on execution quality, consistency, and partnership excellence.
This is a field‑based role, spending the majority of time on the road visiting stores, supporting partners, observing execution, and addressing issues early to uphold Jellycat’s retail ambition.
You'll be;
Retail Standards & Brand Protection:
Ensuring Jellycat’s retail standards, visual guidelines and experiential intent are consistently delivered across all assigned locations.
Acting as a brand guardian in live environments, identifying and addressing any dilution from expected execution.
Ensuring the customer journey reflects Jellycat’s joyful, premium positioning at all times.
In‑Store Presence & Execution Excellence:
Maintaining a strong, regular presence in stores across the region, observing real‑world execution and day‑to‑day performance.
Identifying gaps across VM, product placement, staffing behaviours, signage, maintenance and experiential detail.
Addressing issues constructively and collaboratively with retail partners, without disrupting or undermining store teams.
Hypercare & Post‑Launch Support
Supporting the Senior Commercial Retail Manager during hypercare periods following launches, refits or new space openings.
Helping stabilise environments once live, embedding standards and ways of working at store level.
Support the structured handover from hypercare into steady‑state operations once environments are established.
Partner Collaboration & Ways of Working
Building strong relationships with store teams, managers and partner contacts based on trust, respect and shared standards.
Reinforcing Jellycat expectations clearly, while maintaining positive and productive working relationships.
Acting as a calm, credible and professional Jellycat presence in store at all times.
Issue Identification & Resolution
Proactively identifying operational or execution issues and resolve where possible at store level.
Escalating more complex issues to the Senior Commercial Retail Manager with clear context and recommended actions.
Ensuring recurring issues are tracked and addressed sustainably, not repeatedly “fixed” in isolation.
Feedback, Reporting & Continuous Improvement
Providing clear, structured feedback to the Senior Commercial Retail Manager on retail performance, risks and opportunities.
Capturing observations and learnings from stores to inform continuous improvement of standards and playbooks.
Supporting consistency across regions by sharing best practice and insight.
You'll have;
Experience in retail, field retail management, VM, store operations or partner‑led retail environments.
Strong understanding of how retail environments operate day to day once customers are in store.
Experience working with premium, lifestyle or design‑led brands preferred.
Highly observant, detail‑oriented and standards‑driven.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence without authority.
Confident communicating expectations clearly and calmly in live retail environments.
Highly organised and comfortable managing a large number of store visits and follow‑ups.
Able to operate autonomously and take ownership of issues through to resolution.
Passionate about Jellycat and fiercely protective of the brand experience.
Approachable, professional and partnership‑led in style.
Calm under pressure and solutions‑focused.
Comfortable being on the road and spending significant time in store environments.
Motivated by excellence, consistency and getting the detail right.
