Due to continued growth and strategic strengthening of pastoral leadership, the school is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Safeguarding Lead to oversee child protection and safeguarding operations.
Role Overview
The Safeguarding Lead will play a critical role in maintaining and strengthening safeguarding systems across the school.
Key responsibilities include:
Acting as Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) or Deputy DSL
Managing safeguarding referrals and complex casework
Liaising with social services, CAMHS, police and external agencies
Maintaining CPOMS or equivalent safeguarding systems
Leading safeguarding meetings and case conferences
Delivering safeguarding training to all staff
Ensuring compliance with Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE)
Monitoring attendance patterns linked to safeguarding concerns
Supporting vulnerable students and families
Producing safeguarding reports for governors
This is a strategic and operational role requiring resilience, discretion, and strong professional judgement.
Pastoral & Inclusion Structure
The Safeguarding Lead works alongside Heads of Year, SENCO, Attendance Officer, and senior leadership to ensure early intervention and effective support systems.
Candidate Requirements
Significant safeguarding experience within education
Strong knowledge of KCSIE and child protection legislation
Experience managing complex safeguarding cases
Excellent record-keeping and reporting skills
Strong communication and multi-agency coordination skills
Ability to remain calm under pressure
Commitment to safeguarding and student welfare
