BDM - Data Centre Infrastructure

London

Company Overview

Our client is a well-established international technology distributor, operating as part of a global organisation with a presence in over 40 countries. They specialise in delivering infrastructure, networking and security solutions through an extensive portfolio of leading technology vendors, alongside a growing range of proprietary products.

As part of an exciting strategic growth initiative, the business has recently launched a dedicated data centre infrastructure division focused on delivering high-performance connectivity and physical infrastructure solutions for modern data centre environments.

This new business unit combines decades of industry expertise with an innovative approach to supporting hyperscale, colocation, enterprise and edge data centre projects. With significant investment and ambitious growth plans, the business is looking to establish itself as a recognised leader within the sector.

The Opportunity

Our client is seeking an ambitious, energetic and commercially driven Business Development Manager to play a key role in expanding its presence within the data centre market.

This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys opening new doors, developing long-term customer relationships and taking ownership of the complete sales process-from identifying opportunities through to securing new business and growing strategic accounts.

You'll be joining a newly established division with genuine scope to influence its direction, operating with the agility of a start-up while benefiting from the backing, resources and stability of a highly successful international organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Generate new business opportunities through proactive prospecting, networking, LinkedIn outreach and relationship building.
  • Identify, qualify and secure new customers within the data centre and critical infrastructure sectors.
  • Manage the full sales cycle from initial engagement through to negotiation, closing and ongoing account development.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers and stakeholders.
  • Develop and manage a healthy pipeline to consistently achieve revenue and margin targets.
  • Deliver customer presentations, commercial proposals and solution-based sales discussions.
  • Work closely with internal technical and commercial teams to ensure an exceptional customer experience.
  • Maintain accurate CRM records, pipeline forecasting and sales reporting.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity and emerging opportunities.
  • Represent the business at customer meetings, industry events and exhibitions.

Skills & Experience

  • Proven success within business development, sales or new business acquisition.
  • Background within data centres, structured cabling, networking, fibre, connectivity or technology infrastructure.
  • Demonstrable experience winning new customers through proactive sales activity.
  • Experience managing the complete sales process independently.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and negotiation skills.
  • Highly motivated, resilient and target-driven.
  • Strong commercial awareness with a customer-first approach.
  • Experience using CRM systems and sales reporting tools.
  • Able to work autonomously while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
