About the Role
ANZUK Education is partnering with a welcoming and inclusive school in Rainham seeking a compassionate and resilient SEND Teaching Assistant for an immediate start. This full-time role offers the rewarding opportunity to provide tailored 1:1 or small-group support to pupils with diverse learning needs, including Autism (ASD), ADHD, and Speech & Language difficulties.
The school is well-regarded for its dedicated SEND provisions and supportive leadership, creating a nurturing environment where support staff are empowered to make a genuine difference in the lives of children with additional needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Tailored Support: Provide personalised 1:1 or small-group assistance to help pupils access the curriculum.
- Inclusion: Adapt learning materials and activities to ensure they are accessible and engaging for all learners.
- EHCP Implementation: Assist in the delivery and monitoring of targets outlined in pupils' Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
- Wellbeing: Support pupils social, emotional, and physical needs, including de-escalation and positive behaviour management.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the SENDCO, class teachers, and external professionals such as speech therapists.
The Ideal Candidate Will:
- Have previous experience supporting children with SEND in a school or care setting.
- Demonstrate a patient, empathetic, and proactive approach.
- Be confident in managing challenging behaviours with a calm and resilient attitude.
- Have knowledge of specific SEND conditions or relevant training (e.g., Makaton, PECS, or Team-Teach).
- Show a clear commitment to safeguarding and the welfare of vulnerable children.
