The Opportunity

Wayman Education is looking for a reliable, hardworking, and practical School Caretaker to join a friendly primary school in Hounslow . This is an essential role for someone who takes pride in their work and wants to ensure that children have a clean, safe, and well-maintained environment in which to learn.

The Role

As the Caretaker, you will be the "face" of the school site. You will be responsible for the day-to-day maintenance, security, and cleanliness of the premises. This is a hands-on role that requires a mix of technical skill and a proactive "can-do" attitude.

Key Responsibilities:

• Site Security: Opening the school in the morning and ensuring the site is fully secured at the end of the day, including setting alarms and checking all windows and doors.

• General Maintenance: Carrying out minor repairs such as fixing leaks, painting/decorating, changing lightbulbs, and basic carpentry or plumbing tasks.

• Health & Safety: Conducting regular safety checks, including fire alarm testing, water temperature monitoring (Legionella), and ensuring all walkways are clear of hazards.

• Cleaning & Grounds: Supervising the cleaning team and ensuring the school grounds are tidy and free of litter or debris.

• Porterage: Moving furniture for assemblies and events, and taking delivery of school supplies and equipment.

Requirements

• Previous experience in a caretaking, maintenance, or DIY-focused role is highly desirable.

• Practical skills in basic plumbing, electrical, and carpentry tasks.

• A good understanding of Health & Safety and COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health).

• Physical fitness, as the role involves lifting, carrying, and being on your feet for most of the day.

• A friendly and professional manner when dealing with staff, pupils, and parents.

• An enhanced DBS check (or a willingness to undergo one immediately).
