This is an exciting opportunity for a talented musician and educator, whether an experienced practitioner seeking a collaborative new setting or a dedicated Early Career Teacher (ECT), to cultivate musical creativity, technical skill, and performance confidence across a diverse student body.
About the Role
As a Teacher of Music, you will foster a rich appreciation for musical theory, composition, and performance across a broad spectrum of genres from classical musicology to contemporary digital production. Joining the department for the spring term, you will deliver high-energy, practical, and theoretical lessons across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4 (GCSE Music / Vocational Music Practice), and Key Stage 5 (A-Level Music / Music Technology / BTEC Performing Arts), empowering every student to unlock their artistic potential.

Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver engaging, high-quality Music lessons across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5 that integrate composition, practical performance, musicology, and music technology skills.
Prepare students thoroughly for national GCSE, A-Level, and vocational Music examinations through structured portfolio moderation, targeted feedback, and exam coaching.
Direct and lead extra-curricular musical ensembles, choir practices, bands, and orchestra rehearsals, coordinating seasonal showcases, school concerts, and community performances.
Collaborate with visiting peripatetic music tutors to maintain an active, inclusive, and high-uptake instrumental tuition scheme across all year groups.
Monitor and evaluate student progress, scaffolding core musical concepts for developing learners while stretching gifted young musicians toward university and conservatoire entry.

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognized teaching credential.
A strong academic degree in Music, Music Performance, Composition, or a closely related discipline (keyboard or primary instrument/vocal proficiency is highly advantageous).
Proven track record or demonstrated capability of delivering outstanding Music teaching across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (KS5/A-Level/BTEC experience is desirable).
Thorough knowledge of national Music examination board specifications (e.g., Eduqas, OCR, Edexcel, AQA) and classroom music software applications.
Strong classroom presence, active ensemble conducting/directing abilities, and an infectious enthusiasm for musical craft and performing arts.
Salary & Benefits
Pay Scale: Outer London Main / Upper Pay Scale (MPS/UPS Outer London, commensurate with experience), with potential TLR opportunities available for Extra-Curricular Music Coordination or Performing Arts leadership.
Teachers’ Pension Scheme (TPS), comprehensive continuous professional development (CPD), structured onboarding for a smooth January transition, and access to staff health and wellbeing schemes.
