About the Role:
SuperAwesome is seeking a sharp and proactive Counsel to join our legal team and play a pivotal role in supporting our rapidly growing Creators business. This is an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of influencer and creator marketing, directly impacting how leading brands connect with young audiences through engaging content creators on social media and in gaming. You will be responsible for a wide range of legal matters related to influencer and creator partnerships, ensuring compliance with internal policy as well as legal and regulatory obligations on brands, talent and the business, and facilitating successful campaigns.
Responsibilities:
- Contract Workflow Management and Negotiation:
- You will be the legal point of contact for the SuperAwesome Creators team, working with the business to shepherd talent from RFP to signed agreement.
- Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of agreements with influencers/content creators, talent management, brands and third party service providers, ensuring favorable terms and protecting SuperAwesome's standards and interests.
- This includes talent agreements (e.g., one-off campaigns and long-term partnership deals), content licenses, and service agreements (with SA clients as well as third party contractors)
- Client and Agency Interface: Serve as a key point of contact for clients and advertising agencies regarding the legal aspects of influencer campaigns, interpreting contractual requirements and providing clear, practical advice.
- Legal Research and Advice: Conduct legal research on relevant topics, including advertising law, intellectual property, privacy, and child protection laws, to provide informed legal advice to internal stakeholders. Act as the subject matter expert for our team in respect to EMEA regulations/legal activity in the influencer marketing space.
- Policy Development: Assist in the development and implementation of internal policies and procedures related to influencer marketing and creator partnerships.
- Guideline Maintenance: Proactively monitor and stay up-to-date on evolving advertising and disclosure regulations related to influencer marketing across all countries in which SuperAwesome operates. Develop and maintain internal policy guidelines and training materials to ensure compliance.
- Influencer Vetting Support: Collaborate with internal teams to provide legal guidance on the vetting process for potential influencers, ensuring compliance with legal and ethical standards, including advertising regulations and child safety guidelines.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) or law degree from an accredited law school.
- Admission to the bar in at least one jurisdiction.
- Three to five years of relevant legal experience, with a focus on commercial contracts (negotiating and drafting experience) and preferably experience with advertising law.
- Strong understanding of influencer marketing and the digital media landscape.
- Familiarity with advertising regulations (e.g., ASA guidelines), local influencers laws and proposals.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, including the ability to present complex information effectively in training settings.
- Ability to explain complex legal issues clearly and concisely to legal and non-legal stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and proactively as part of a collaborative team in a fast-paced environment.
