Job Title: Assistant Housekeeper.
Location: Central London.
Type: Full-Time, 3-Month Fixed Term Contract.
Salary: £29,131 gross per annum.
Reports to: Senior Housekeeper.

Job Purpose:
The Assistant to the Senior Housekeeper plays a key role in supporting the smooth running of the Official Residence. This live-in position involves maintaining high standards of cleanliness and presentation, preparing and serving meals and refreshments, and assisting with household operations during official events, visits, and day-to-day activities. The role requires discretion, reliability, and the ability to work independently while providing exemplary service in a high-profile official household environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with cooking and meal preparation, including drinks and refreshments, for the household and official events.
  • Support food and beverage service at receptions, lunches, dinners, and other representational functions held at the residence.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and presentation of the residence, including vacuuming, mopping, spot-cleaning floors and walls, sanitizing bathrooms, dusting, and polishing furniture and fittings.
  • Undertake laundry and ironing duties as required.
  • Water plants and arrange flowers within the residence.
  • Maintain tidy and presentable outdoor areas, including the back yard, front steps, and windows.
  • Welcome and assist guests, visitors, maintenance personnel, and suppliers, ensuring a courteous and professional approach at all times.
  • Support the Senior Housekeeper in meeting and greeting guests at the residence.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and discretion while working in a high-profile environment.
  • Work closely with the Senior Housekeeper and Office Manager, following their direction and guidance.
  • Carry out any additional duties necessary for the upkeep and service of the residence.

Person Specification:

Essential Experience:

  • Previous experience in cleaning and housekeeping.
  • Experience in cooking.

  • Ability to work within an official household environment, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills, sound judgement, and common sense.
  • Results-oriented, with a strong focus on delivering a high standard of service.
  • Demonstrates commitment, flexibility, and initiative.
  • Good communication skills for interacting with visitors, guests, and service personnel.
  • Ability to set and manage priorities while responding to competing demands.
  • Able to work independently within established guidelines.
  • Maintains a high level of confidentiality at all times.
