School Administrator | Secondary School in Redbridge

Marchant Recruitment
Ilford, Greater London

School Administrator

Location: Redbridge

School Type: Secondary School & Sixth Form

Contract: Full-Time, Term-Time Only + 1 Week (36 hours per week)

A forward-thinking, welcoming secondary school in the London Borough of Redbridge is seeking an organized, proactive, and versatile School Administrator to join their central operational team. This is a brilliant opportunity for a dedicated administrative professional, whether you have prior school office experience or are bringing strong transferrable administrative skills from the corporate or public sector, to become a key pillar of support for staff, students, and parents.

About the Role

As a School Administrator, you will keep the administrative engine of the school running smoothly and efficiently. Working closely with the Senior Office Manager and departmental leads, you will handle a diverse mix of daily tasks, ranging from student data management and attendance logging to parent correspondence, reprographics, and event coordination.

  • Start Date: Immediate or upcoming term

  • Environment: A supportive, modern secondary school environment committed to academic ambition, student wellbeing, and strong community engagement

  • Culture: A collegiate, friendly, and fast-paced workplace where teamwork, initiative, and administrative excellence are highly valued

Key Responsibilities

  • Core Administrative Support: Draft, format, and issue routine school correspondence, mailouts, student reports, and newsletter updates to parents and carers.

  • Data & Systems Management: Maintain and update student records on the school’s Management Information System (e.g., SIMS, Arbor, Bromcom), assisting with attendance logging, admissions documentation, and data entry checks.

  • Front-Office & Communication: Assist the front-of-house team by answering telephone queries, handling parent inquiries, greeting visitors, and directing messages accurately across departments.

  • School Operations & Events Support: Assist in organizing administrative requirements for school trips, parents' evenings, open days, and student induction events (including consent forms and attendance lists).

  • Reprographics & Supply Management: Manage central photocopying, binding, and document preparation for teaching staff while monitoring and reordering general office stationery and supplies.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a fast-paced administrative, secretarial, or customer support role (prior experience in an educational or public sector setting is desirable, but not essential).

  • Good IT proficiency, including Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook) or Google Workspace; familiarity with school MIS software (e.g., SIMS, Arbor, Bromcom) is an advantage.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a welcoming, composed, and professional manner when dealing with parents, visitors, and pupils.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage competing priorities with initiative and accuracy.

  • Knowledge of, or willingness to learn, school confidentiality practices, data protection rules (GDPR), and child safeguarding standards.

Salary & Benefits

  • Pay Scale: Outer London Support Staff Scale (commensurate with administrative experience, pro-rata for term-time plus 1 week).

  • Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS), generous holiday pro-rata allowance, funded professional development and MIS software training, and access to staff health and wellbeing schemes.

How to Apply

If you are an approachable, detail-oriented administrative professional ready to make a positive impact within a vibrant secondary school in Redbridge, we would love to hear from you. Please submit your application as soon as possible for consideration.
