Senior Network Security Engineer

Opticore IT is a specialist Network Engineer and Project Management consultancy offering a wide variety of opportunities to work within fast-paced, challenging environments across our client base spanning multiple sectors including Finance, Broadcast Media, Telecommunications and more.

Opticore IT are currently searching for a Senior Network Security Engineer to support our client, in a critical migration project from a cloud-based proxy solution (Netskope) to an on-premise proxy infrastructure with deep technical expertise in proxy technologies, a solid security mindset, and familiarity with automation practices to come and join the team.

You'll join our excellent team, based in the London area on an initial 6-month contract, inside IR35, with scope to extend . Requiring 2 days a week in our client's HQ in the Tottenham Court Road area.

What you'll be doing:

• Leading the migration from a cloud proxy (Netskope) to an on-premise proxy solution.
• Designing and implementing proxy policies that ensure secure, scalable, and efficient traffic control.
• Configuring and managing advanced features such as SSL inspection, re-termination, web sockets, and custom policy creation
• Ensuring granular control over web traffic and enforce enterprise security standards.
• Providing strategic guidance on multi-product proxy environments, identifying potential compatibility or integration challenges.
• Supporting automation of policy deployment and configuration tasks where feasible.
• Working with stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into technical solutions.
• Conducting testing and validation of new proxy infrastructure before go-live.
• Monitoring and troubleshooting proxy-related issues during and after the transition.
• Providing technical documentation and knowledge transfer to client teams.

What you'll bring:

• Proven history in enterprise-level proxy technologies, including cloud and on-premise solutions, including large-scale migration projects involving critical infrastructure
• Strong understanding of multi-product environments in the proxy/security space.
• Expertise in configuring and managing web sockets, SSL inspection, and policy creation.
• Hands-on experience with traffic retermination, deep packet inspection, and encrypted traffic analysis.
• Awareness of automation tools and frameworks (e.g., Ansible, Terraform, Python scripting).
• A strong security mindset, with familiarity in threat detection, data protection, and compliance.
• Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.
