Job Summary:
We are hiring a Financial Operations Accountant (London) reporting directly to the UK Country Controller within the BBS Financial Services Team based at Chiswick Park London. This position is eligible for hybrid telework after meeting a qualifying probationary period. The BBS Financial Services team provides services and support to Bechtel’s Global Business Units, Project Teams, and Offices around the world with regards to key accounting functions including Account Reconciliation, General Ledger, and local Operations Reporting. The team performs vital functions such as responding to PwC audits, preparing financial statements, and supporting vital local compliance for the UK entities. The candidate must have the ability to maintain a sense of urgency focusing on critical issues, be detail oriented and demonstrate strong organizational and communication skills.

Major Responsibilities:
• Prepare draft consolidated financials for large entities
• Prepare and finalise annual UK payroll additive rates and submit for approval
• Lead statutory audits and tax inspections
• Assist County Controller/Regional Controller on compliance related matters
• Monitors forecasts and budgets for facilities management overhead and provides variance analysis and commentary
• Lead role in process improvements or system implementations (work with transaction groups and assist with work process improvements)
• Prepares documents for tax audits/inspections
• Participates in implementing changes in accounting standards and internal policies or procedures
• Preparation of month-end reporting and accounting activities
• Preparation of monthly Management Accounts and other reports for UK legal entities according to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles or other regulatory requirements
• Prepares quarterly management reports required for Directors Board Meetings.
• Prepare internal and external regulatory reports related to financial statements on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis (external reports are uploaded onto the government website portals e.g. Office for National Statistics, and UK Duty to Pay)
• Initiates and completes corrective action to ensure that outstanding items in account reconciliations are cleared promptly.
• Reviews non-conforming accounts and coordinates adjustments with the New Delhi team.
• Reviews general ledger and trial balance and makes adjustments on journal vouchers.
• Support UK tax team and provide data for tax return submissions (Corporate tax, R&D, Hybrid)
• Responds to moderately complex inquiries from tax authorities
Education and Experience Requirements:
• Accounting qualification with Degree, Diploma, part qualified ACCA, CIMA or similar.
• Some practical accounting experience.
• Must have legal right to work in the UK.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
• Good organisation skills and the ability to provide constant attention to detail.
• Ability to simultaneously handle numerous tasks of varying complexity are critical to the role.
• Must be able to work independently or as part of a team.
• Ability to analyse financial data, provide early recognition of potential problems and provide effective and innovative thought processes in handling financials issues.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills at the business and technical level.
• Strong team player with demonstrated leadership ability who is customer focused and has ability to communicate cross functionally.
• Proficient use of Microsoft Word, Excel and experience with Oracle would be considered advantageous.
• Adaptable and flexible, with the ability to work across cultures.
• Self-motivated, works with minimal supervision, deadline driven.
