OverviewAs our Senior Sofware Developer you will be involved with designing, creating, testing and deploying web based software products as part of Gallagher Re’s engineering team, to serve our business, one of the largest reinsurance brokerages in the world.
As well as being a key part of a product team, responsible for building world class software products, you’ll be advising and leading on best practices for evolving and improving our code base to help us avoid falling behind industry standards, and helping us innovate and create new ways of solving technical issues across the whole department.
Ensuring security and performance are at the forefront of all that you do, along with accessibility by default, this role offers a real opportunity to shape the day to day experience of hundreds of colleagues across Gallagher Re. It will give opportunities to stretch and develop your own skillset by working on challenging problems, collaborating with colleagues to grow both individually and as a team, delivering the very best outcomes for our business.
We are happy for this to be based anywhere in the UK, the one requirement would be that you can travel to our London Headquaters once a month for the team meet up days.

How you'll make an impact- Designing and developing all aspects of software products for use across Gallagher Re, in a senior capacity, taking ownership for large/complex applications across the full development lifecycle
- Enhancing and refactoring existing products using the latest versions of .net and Angular, and optimising for cloud native deployment in Azure.
- Providing coaching and training to colleagues across the organisation
- Conducting code reviews of work carried out across the team
- Supporting the development and application of consistent standards and patterns across the team and wider business
- Facilitating performance and security tests against new and existing codebases
- Analysing high level requirements and creating appropriate tasks for development
- Consulting with BAs, designers, front end developers etc to ensure the best quality software possible is created
- Creating appropriate unit tests for existing and new code
- Recommending evolutions to development methodologies and standards and implementing as appropriate as part of our continuous improvement culture
- Working with 2 nd line support function to troubleshoot, fix and refactor issues in live systems
- Previous experience with technologies: Angular 17+, .Net Core and Azure cloud
- Solid knowledge of SQL
- Automation testing using Selenium/Playwright/BDD
- Familiari with Azure Cloud concepts liek App service, Key vault, Service Bus, CosmosDb, ACR, APIM
- Hands-on experience with Docker
- Experience with Azure DevOps
- Excellent communication and problem solving skills
- Ability to work across multiple, complex product domains
