Chief Restructuring Officer (CRO)
Job Description
Role OverviewWe are seeking a highly experienced and results-driven Chief Restructuring Officer (CRO) to lead a comprehensive operational and financial transformation for a private equity-backed cybersecurity portfolio company. This is a critical, hands-on leadership role responsible for stabilizing the business, optimizing performance, and maximizing enterprise value. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of successfully leading turnarounds and restructuring initiatives within technology or software businesses, ideally with exposure to the cybersecurity sector and private equity ownership.
Key Responsibilities- Strategic Turnaround & Execution: Develop and implement a comprehensive restructuring plan, addressing financial, operational, and strategic challenges.
Drive rapid decision-making and execution to stabilize performance and create a clear path to profitability and growth.
- Financial Management & Optimization: Take control of cash flow, liquidity management, and working capital. Lead negotiations with lenders, creditors, and other stakeholders. Implement rigorous financial controls and reporting to provide transparency to the board and PE sponsors.
- Operational Efficiency & Performance Improvement: Conduct a thorough assessment of all business operations, identifying and eliminating inefficiencies.
Streamline processes, optimize the organizational structure, and rationalize the product/service portfolio to focus on core, high-margin offerings.
- Stakeholder Management & Communication: Serve as the primary liaison with the private equity firm, board of directors, and senior leadership team. Provide clear, concise, and regular updates on progress, challenges, and outcomes, ensuring alignment and maintaining confidence throughout the transformation process.
- Extensive experience in C-level interim roles (CRO, interim CEO/CFO) with a demonstrable track record of successful corporate turnarounds.
- Deep financial acumen, including expertise in cash flow management, debt restructuring, and operational P&L optimization.
- Experience working within a Private Equity-owned environment, understanding the pace, reporting requirements, and value-creation drivers.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to drive change in challenging and high-pressure situations.
- Specific experience within the SaaS or cybersecurity industry.
- Professional certifications such as CTP (Certified Turnaround Professional).
- Experience in post-merger integration and divestiture processes.
