Targeted Outreach and Detached Worker –
General Duties of the Role:
• Deliver and coordinate targeted outreach and detached youth work sessions in Enfield, focusing on areas with high crime, anti-social behaviour, and deprivation.
• Engage young people aged 11-19 (up to 25 for those with learning disabilities or as care leavers) through interventions aimed at reducing risks such as youth violence and promoting positive outcomes.
• Supervise assistant youth workers, casual staff, commissioned providers, and volunteers, ensuring the effective delivery of programs.
• Plan, deliver, and evaluate informal and accredited learning opportunities, emphasizing safeguarding and child protection.
• Collaborate with internal and external partners, including schools, police, and other agencies, to enhance service delivery.
• Perform administrative tasks related to program reporting and evaluation.
• Work evenings, weekends, and, when necessary, participate in overnight stays.
Working Pattern:
• Hybrid Role: Work involves a combination of on-site detached and outreach activities in various community settings (e.g., schools, residential homes, streets) and administrative tasks, which may be completed remotely.
• Flexible Hours: The position requires availability during evenings, weekends, and occasional overnight stays to meet the demands of youth outreach programs.

Essential:
1. Experience working with children and young people aged 11-19 in a relevant setting e.g. outreach and detached, youth clubs or play work, children’s centre, school, sports/arts/music group
2. Demonstrable skills in forming positive, productive and professional relationships with children and young people and an understanding of the issues that affect children and young people
3. Demonstrable skills and experience that can be of benefit for the personal development and informal learning of children and young people
4. An understanding how children learn and the ability to be creative and innovative in working with children and young people
5. An understanding of how to protect children from significant harm
6. Demonstrable communication skills and a demonstrable ability to communicate both verbally and in writing, to varied audiences with different levels of comprehension and communication skills [e.g. young people or senior managers in children’s services or partner agencies or communities].
7. Demonstrable substantial experience in working in successful teams and playing a part in team success
8. Experience of supervising the work of others and leading teams
9. Available to work evenings, weekends and where necessary overnight stays

Qualification(s)1. A recognised Level 2 qualification in youth work , or substantial experience of working with young people in city environment and the willingness to complete the relevant training for this post.
