Investec are looking for a Technical Product Owner to join our Account Services Platform (ASP) team and help shape the technology that supports our transactional banking products across the UK. This is an opportunity to take ownership of a technically complex platform covering account processing, financial reporting, reconciliation and payment settlement.

You will work at the intersection of business, product and technology, translating business needs into clear technical outcomes and helping multidisciplinary teams deliver them. Alongside shaping the longer-term platform roadmap, you will play an important role in modernising our core banking capabilities and supporting the migration of accounts onto the modern platform.

Working closely with engineering, QA, architecture, data, risk, finance and operational teams across the UK and South Africa, you will provide the clarity, direction and technical understanding needed to deliver safely and at scale. You will thrive in this role if you are highly organised, calm under pressure and motivated by delivering meaningful outcomes. You will bring a high level of emotional intelligence, communicate difficult messages constructively and help build strong working relationships across multidisciplinary and geographically distributed teams.

What will I be doing?

• Own and communicate the product vision, roadmap and objectives for the Account Services Platform, balancing strategic modernisation with regulatory, risk and operational priorities.
• Translate business needs into clear technical requirements, epics, features and user stories using sequence diagrams, data models, process flows and other business analysis techniques.
• Own, refine and prioritise the product backlog based on client and business value, regulatory criticality and risk reduction.
• Lead backlog refinement, sprint reviews and planning sessions across multidisciplinary teams in the UK and South Africa.
• Act as a technical representative for the platform, clearly explaining its account capabilities, APIs, events and dependencies to business stakeholders and other technology teams.
• Help define and deliver the account migration approach, including data-quality remediation, reconciliation, conversion activity, dress rehearsals, delivery governance and post-migration validation.
• Collaborate with engineering, QA, architecture and data platform teams, while engaging with vendors where new capabilities or platform changes are required.
• Champion agile delivery, DevSecOps practices and the effective use of delivery metrics, removing impediments and helping teams maintain momentum.

What are we looking for?

What's Essential

• Significant experience delivering technical product ownership or business analysis within banking, ideally across core banking, payments, cards, current accounts, savings or cash-management products.
• Strong ability to work with business stakeholders and translate their needs into technically clear, delivery-ready requirements and user stories.
• Practical experience of sequence visualisation, system-flow modelling and data modelling.
• Solid, technical knowledge of SQL, APIs and API documentation tools or standards such as Swagger and OpenAPI.
• Experience owning and prioritising a technical product backlog while balancing immediate delivery needs with longer-term platform objectives.
• The ability to communicate complex technology and domain topics clearly, enabling stakeholders to understand options and trade-offs without requiring deep technical knowledge.
• Confidence influencing stakeholders across engineering, architecture, operations, risk, compliance and other control functions.
• A collaborative and outcome-focused approach, with the ability to lead across teams and locations without relying on formal authority.

What's Desirable

• Experience delivering change across core banking platforms or technically complex banking systems.
• Experience supporting the migration of accounts or data between banking platforms, including phased cutover and reconciliation activity.
• Familiarity with microservices or event-sourced architectures.
• Experience working closely with data platform teams or supporting the creation and availability of data products.
• Knowledge of account-domain concepts such as accounts, mandates, limits, statements and financial reporting.
• Experience interacting with banking technology vendors to raise and manage capability or feature requests.
• Knowledge of payment settlement, payment schemes or card-processing platforms.
• Experience mentoring or supporting the development of Product Owners and Business Analysts.
