Attendance Officer Role in an Outstanding Academy School
An outstanding academy school in Islington is seeking to appoint an Attendance Officer to join its pastoral and administrative team as soon as possible. This is a full-time role within a school that places strong emphasis on safeguarding, student wellbeing, and high attendance expectations.
The successful candidate will play a key role in monitoring attendance, supporting families, and helping to ensure pupils engage positively with school life.
About the Role
You will be responsible for monitoring daily attendance and punctuality, identifying attendance concerns, and working closely with pastoral staff, parents, and external agencies where appropriate.
The role includes maintaining accurate attendance records, carrying out first-day response procedures, and supporting whole-school attendance improvement strategies.
You will work collaboratively with safeguarding and pastoral teams to support pupils who may face barriers to regular school attendance.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor and track pupil attendance and punctuality
Maintain accurate attendance records and reports
Carry out first-day absence calls and follow-up procedures
Identify attendance concerns and escalating absence patterns
Work with parents, carers, and external agencies where required
Support attendance improvement strategies across the school
Ensure compliance with safeguarding and attendance procedures
Provide administrative support linked to attendance processes

Knowledge of school attendance procedures and safeguarding
Experience using school management information systems
