Senior Platform Engineer (Domain Operations)

London Office - Hybrid: 4 days in the office, 1 day working from home

We are looking for an experienced Senior Platform Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be working within one of our platform engineering teams to ensure that our platform meets the needs of our customers and business objectives.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with development teams to accelerate value delivery and enhance scalability and reliability for clients.
  • Work within Platform Engineering to ensure high availability and reliability of our platform.
  • Partner with development teams to ensure applications are designed for scalability and reliability.
  • Design and build systems with a longer-term approach in mind, using design patterns that allow for easy iteration and scaling.
  • Develop and maintain infrastructure and application monitoring, incident management, and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Leverage observability tools to gain insights into system performance and health, and drive improvement decisions.
  • Design and implement automation tools and processes to enhance efficiency and minimize downtime.
  • Participate in on-call rotation to address critical incidents and ensure system availability.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies, tools, and practices in Platform Engineering and infrastructure.
About you:
  • Several years of experience in building large-scale distributed systems.
  • Strong understanding of cloud architecture and application deployment models, specifically on GCP or AWS.
  • Experience in operating web-scale deployments of containerized systems using Kubernetes and Amazon Container Services.
  • Deep expertise in your team's technical domain, with a view on how it should move forward.
  • Champions quality, testing, and refactoring, with a strong proficiency in Python and a commitment to writing high-quality code and documentation.
  • Passion for designing large systems with scalable and elegant interfaces.
  • Identify technical debt and propose solutions, balancing short-term delivery with long-term maintainability and proactively mitigating risks.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Capable of explaining why something is being built, what the expected impact is, and communicating technical trade-offs to stakeholders.
  • Commitment to upholding Ebury's values.
Nice to have:
  • Experience in the FinTech industry.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field.
  • Familiarity with security and compliance requirements (e.g., HIPAA, SOC2, GDPR, DORA) is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Spanish or Portuguese is advantageous.
