About the role
The Housing Advice & Homelessness Service is seeking an experienced Housing Review Officer to conduct statutory s.202 reviews under Housing Act Pt 7 and s.166a reviews pertaining to the Council’s Allocations scheme under Housing Act Pt 6.
You will have detailed knowledge of The Housing Act 1996 (Pt 6 & 7), The Homelessness (Review Procedure etc.) Regulations 2018 and the Homelessness Code of Guidance as well as the Council’s Housing Allocations policy. You possess excellent investigative, organisational and negotiation skills.
The role requires strong case-management skills and adherence to statutory timescales, in support of robust assessment, decision-making and notification.
You will have the ability to interpret and apply your knowledge of legislation, policy and relevant case law to the housing reviews process and applications for housing assistance. Your capacity to advise on and navigate complex case-law will enhance your ability to deliver robust decisions that can withstand legal challenges.
This knowledge will reinforce your ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, residents and Solicitors on a wide range of sensitive and complex issues, to deliver positive outcomes and mitigate financial risk to the Council.
There is also a responsibility to support development and learning with Housing colleagues with regards to the emergence of legislative changes and the application of new caselaw, in delivering continuous Service improvement.
