SEND Tutor
Location: Tuition will take place: In the pupil’s home
In public settings (e.g. libraries, community centres)
Online (as appropriate) Weekly Commitment: Minimum of 15 hours per week

School refusers who have disengaged from education
Young people with diagnosed or undiagnosed SEN
Those who may have experienced trauma, exclusion, or placement breakdowns
Pupils requiring a safe, calm, and consistent learning environment
These pupils benefit most from tutors who are empathetic, patient, and skilled at building trust and routine. Many are on EHCPs (Education, Health and Care Plans) or undergoing assessment. What We’re Looking For Minimum 2 years’ UK teaching or tutoring experience
Strong background working with young people with SEN, SEMH, or those out of school
Confident delivering personalised, engaging sessions in English and/or Maths
Experience with school refusers or emotionally-based school non-attendance (EBSA) is highly desirable
Reliable, organised, and professional in all communications
Comfortable liaising with professionals (e.g. SENCOs, Social Workers, Virtual School staff)
Must complete session reports including attendance, progress, objectives, and observations Ideal Candidate Qualities Calm, consistent, and confident in managing challenging behaviours or emotional distress
Creative in lesson delivery – able to adapt to different needs and learning styles
Aware of safeguarding protocols and maintaining appropriate boundaries
