Teacher of PE
Chigwell School is seeking to appoint a well-qualified and inspirational practitioner to join our thriving Sports Department as a full time PE & Games Teacher in September 2026. There is a real buzz about sport and physical activity at the school, and this role has been created to further develop and support our sporting provision.
The successful candidate will deliver PE lessons from Year 3 to Year 11 and Games lessons from Year 3 to Year 13. The successful candidate should be able to teach academic PE, with particular emphasis on the delivery of A-Level. There will be a strong expectation to coach and lead teams in the school’s focus sports for girls (cricket, football, hockey, netball and tennis) as part of the Games and Extra-Curricular programme, including Saturday fixtures. There would be the potential opportunity, for the right candidate, to take a lead on girls’ cricket or girls’ football. The ability to deliver swimming to a high level would also be advantageous. This post would be equally suitable for an Early Career Teacher or an experienced teacher.
All pupils at Chigwell are strongly encouraged to participate widely in sporting activities. Each pupil from Year 3 to 11 enjoys one timetabled PE lesson a week in addition to their weekly Games lessons. Our sixth Form pupils have one timetabled Games lesson per week. We encourage all students to represent the school in competitive events, where possible, and to maintain a healthy, active lifestyle by participating in our extensive extra-curricular programme.
We are located in the picturesque village of Chigwell just 10 miles from central London with good transport links by underground (Central Line), road and local bus routes. Close to the edge of Epping Forest, we enjoy over 100 acres of beautiful, landscaped grounds with excellent facilities.

Closing date: 30th April 2026
Applications will be considered upon receipt therefore early applications are encouraged. Candidates will be contacted by telephone or email to attend an interview if required. The School reserves the right to interview and appoint prior to the closing date.
The School is an equal opportunities employer and welcomes a diverse pool of candidates.
