A well-established food business supplying both branded and retailer own-label products into all major UK retailers. Products are manufactured within the company's European production sites, primarily in France, and imported into the UK market. The London office is commercially focused, with no manufacturing on site.

About the Product Technologist job

This is an excellent opportunity for a Product Technologist looking to develop their career within a dynamic retailer-facing environment. The position sits between a Specifications Technologist and Technical Assistant role, offering broad exposure to technical, regulatory and customer-facing responsibilities.

The role will involve interaction with customers and retailers, ensuring product compliance, managing specifications and artwork approvals, and supporting the delivery of products across both own-label and branded ranges.

There is a possibility for progression into a Senior Product Technologist position as the team continues to develop.

Key tasks

• Managing product specifications and technical documentation.
• Maintaining retailer portals and ensuring information is accurate and up to date.
• Supporting artwork approval processes and ensuring compliance with current legislation.
• Liaising with major UK retailers regarding technical and product-related matters.
• Ensuring products meet all relevant regulatory and customer requirements.
• Working closely with European manufacturing sites and internal stakeholders.
• Supporting the technical team with product launches and ongoing product maintenance.

About You

Experience within a technical, specifications or product technologist position in food manufacturing is essential.

• Hands-on experience using at least one major retailer specification portal (such as Tesco TQC, Morrisons, Aldi, Lidl, Sainsbury's, Asda, etc.).
• Strong knowledge of food regulatory compliance and labelling requirements.
• Experience managing artwork approvals and specifications.
• Excellent communication skills and confidence when dealing with customers.
• The ability to work independently and manage their workload effectively.
• It would be great if you have French language skills and also a full UK driver’s licence, although not vital.
• Occasional overseas travel to manufacturing sites in France and Europe (typically 2-3 trips per year) is required.

The Product Technologist job (ref 9110) is based in London and is paying c. £36,000 according to your experience.

The working hours are hybrid - Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday in the office, Monday & Friday WFH.
