ARP Base Teacher - Wandsworth

Marchant Recruitment
London

We are seeking an experienced, compassionate, and highly skilled ARP (Additionally Resourced Provision) Base Teacher to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Wandsworth, starting as soon as possible. This is an excellent opportunity for a teacher who is passionate about inclusive education and has experience supporting pupils with complex special educational needs within a mainstream setting.

The school has a well-established ARP provision that supports pupils with a range of needs, including ASD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional, and communication needs. The ARP is well-resourced and staffed by a committed team who work collaboratively to provide a structured, nurturing, and highly personalised learning environment. Senior leadership is supportive and places strong emphasis on staff wellbeing, training, and professional development.

As an ARP Base Teacher, you will be responsible for planning, delivering, and assessing tailored learning programmes for pupils within the provision. You will work closely with teaching assistants, the SENCo, class teachers, parents, and external professionals to ensure pupils receive consistent, high-quality support. You will play a key role in supporting pupils’ academic progress, emotional regulation, and social development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, deliver, and assess personalised learning programmes within the ARP

  • Create and review Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and EHCP targets

  • Deliver structured one-to-one and small-group teaching sessions

  • Support pupils’ communication, social interaction, and emotional regulation

  • Promote independence, confidence, and positive behaviour

  • Maintain a calm, structured, and inclusive learning environment

  • Track pupil progress and maintain accurate assessment and behaviour records

  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and the SENCo

  • Liaise with parents, carers, and external professionals

  • Support pupils’ inclusion into mainstream classes where appropriate

  • Contribute to staff meetings, CPD, and whole-school inclusion initiatives

  • Ensure safeguarding and child protection procedures are followed

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • Have experience teaching pupils with SEND, ideally within an ARP or specialist setting

  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of ASD and inclusive teaching strategies

  • Be calm, patient, and resilient

  • Have excellent classroom management and organisational skills

  • Be reflective, proactive, and collaborative

  • Show a strong commitment to inclusion, safeguarding, and pupil wellbeing

The school is located in Wandsworth, with excellent transport links and a supportive local community. Staff benefit from a professional, well-resourced, and inclusive working environment where collaboration and development are prioritised.

How to Apply

To apply, please submit an up-to-date CV outlining your experience and suitability for the role.
