The Head of Privacy and Data Protection is a senior-level role responsible for leading and overseeing all aspects of the companys data privacy and protection program. This individual will bolster our privacy framework to accommodate our fast moving agile organisation and help us navigate complex privacy landscapes globally as we expand into new territories.
What youll do
- Lead and constantly improve Krakens privacy program to continuously comply with privacy and data security obligations globally. Adopt modern ways of working and state-of-the art technologies to support Krakens rapidly growing business
- Drive privacy by design for products and services to consistently align with corporate goals legal obligations and best-in-class privacy procedures
- Serve as the primary privacy liaison partnering across the organisation including with Senior Management Legal Security and Product & Engineering teams to embed privacy best practices and uphold compliance.
- Work with third party vendors to ensure both existing and new services comply with privacy and data security obligations.
- Work with legal team and management key departments and committees to ensure Kraken maintains appropriate privacy processes and documentation for its obligations as both a data controller and data processor.
- Understand evolving data privacy obligations from different territories and risk appetites and provide appropriate advice to teams across the business managing roadmaps for future Privacy priorities in conjunction with other teams.
- Lead the development and deployment of privacy training programs for Kraken on global privacy regulations industry best practices and internal company policies.
- Lead the response to data privacy incidents investigations and reporting to supervisory authorities or Clients where necessary.
- Regularly update key stakeholders about the state of data privacy and protection on our platform emerging risks and strategies being taken to mitigate them.
What youll have
- Proven leadership experience in privacy and data protection and relevant domain-specific areas of expertise.
- Youll have helped define and evolve data protection and privacy processes mentor and handle the most complex or sensitive interactions previously.
- Strategic vision execution presence and experience in building teams and processes.
- Experience as a senior privacy leader within a tech organisation thats a data processor (e.g. a SaaS provider or software vendor).
- Experience in leading data protection programs impact assessments third party vendor sub-processor risk management transfer impact assessments and reviewing data processing agreements including upholding requirements for processor and controller obligations.
- Experience working with product and engineering teams influencing and prioritising privacy objectives in product development.
- A working understanding of artificial intelligence technologies including their use cases within a tech business measurement of associated risks and experience in leveraging its potential as an enabler when used responsibly.
- Ability to influence the organisation and instill privacy across teams products and services.
- Law degree or relevant legal experience.
What will help
- Privacy certifications such as CIPT CIPP or CIPM
- Knowledge and practical application of local privacy laws beyond the UK and EU e.g. those for within the USA and APAC.
- Experience working in highly regulated industries.
