Principal Software Engineer - Frontend
London (Remote First - Occasional travel)
Salary: £95,000 - £120,000 + equity + benefits
An established, global technology business within the hospitality-tech industry is seeking a talented Principal Frontend Software Engineer to help build and scale cutting-edge digital solutions. This is a chance to work on greenfield projects - building new, scalable products that help venues create seamless, data-driven guest experiences from the ground up.
What you'll be doing:
- Set the technical vision and architectural direction for Front End systems, ensuring performance, scalability, and maintainability across complex products.
- Lead design and delivery of modern, component-based web applications built with TypeScript, React, and Redux, integrating seamlessly with cloud-based APIs and data pipelines.
- Collaborate with engineering, design, and product leadership to define long-term Front End strategy, coding standards, and UX/UI best practices.
- Mentor and guide engineers across multiple teams, fostering a culture of technical excellence, code quality, and continuous improvement.
- Partner with cross-functional stakeholders (Product, Data, Design) to translate user insights and business needs into elegant, performant digital experiences.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and frameworks to ensure the Front End stack remains innovative, secure, and aligned with company goals.
- Take ownership of mission-critical web initiatives, balancing architectural vision with practical delivery to ensure reliable, scalable solutions.
What do I need to be successful:
- Degree in Computer Science or equivalent hands-on experience.
- 7+ years in Front End software development, including experience in a lead or principal engineering capacity.
- Deep expertise in React, TypeScript, and modern Front End architecture (state management, component design, performance optimisation).
- Strong understanding of cloud-based infrastructures (GCP, AWS, or Azure) and how Front End systems integrate with distributed backends.
- Proven ability to influence technical direction and cross-team alignment in complex engineering environments.
- Passion for building elegant, performant, and accessible user interfaces that delight customers and scale globally.
We are an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from all suitably qualified persons regardless of their race, sex, disability, religion/belief, sexual orientation or age.
