We are looking for highly motivated and enthusiastic radiographers with a keen desire to learn and develop their skills in our busy and exciting department.
The Band 5 Diagnostic Radiographer roles advertised are based in Main Radiology, Denmark Hill, London.
Main duties of the job
Successful applicants can expect to train and rotate through various sections of the department, including x-ray imaging services for trauma, inpatient, outpatient and general practice referrals using static, mobile and fluoroscopy x-ray imaging systems as appropriate. You will rotate through our theatre departments. There is also opportunity to train in either neuro-theatres (Ziehm and O-arm) screening or endoscopy.
The post holders will contribute to out of hours working within the departments shift system, operational 24/7 Monday to Sunday, including bank holidays and religious festivals. Our roster is designed around staff feedback. Shifts for a standard full time post are organised over a four-day standard working week with extended working days. Night duties are a three shift (Sun-Tue, Wed-Fri) or single (Sat) shift pattern with fixed days off, thus allowing for planning of annual leave around shift work.
The post holders will work autonomously and prioritise work in line with clinical need. They will be accountable for their own professional actions, operate within their scope of practice and will consult senior staff as and when necessary. They will work as part of the wider multidisciplinary team and will take into account the requirements of referring teams in the interests of patient care. They will be responsible for the supervision and teaching of students, assistant practitioners, junior staff and colleagues as appropriate.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The post holder will be a qualified Diagnostic Radiographer with active Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) registration. Patient centred care will be at the forefront of the post holders clinical and professional practice and they will demonstrate clinical skills that provide the highest standards possible.
They will exercise adherence to patient confidentiality legislation and maintain information governance standards at all times. They will be proficient in the use of the departments Radiology Information System (EPIC) and Picture Archiving Communications System (PACS) associated with each patient episode.

They will be responsible for the supervision and teaching of students, assistant practitioners, junior staff and colleagues as appropriate. The post holder will demonstrate a level of competency in line with Kings Radiography Competency Framework and is responsible for maintaining their own personal development with support.
Particular emphasis is put at Kings on the need to ensure that all staff recognise their responsibility to deliver services in a high quality, courteous, patient focused manner maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.
Personal Specification Education and Qualification
Essential
- BSc Diagnostic Radiography (or equivalent), or working towards
- HCPC Registration as a Diagnostic Radiographer, or expect to gain on qualification
Knowledge, Experience and Skills
Essential
- Knowledge of Ionising Radiations Regulations 2017 (IRR17)
- Knowledge of Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations 2017 (IRMER 2017)
- Ability to perform a wide range of plain film X-rays to a high standard including adaptive technique
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Evidenced knowledge and experience in provision of patient centred care
- Comprehensive knowledge of anatomy and pathology that can be used to justify examinations and image appropriately
