Year 5 Teacher - Brixton
We are seeking a motivated, enthusiastic, and committed Year 5 Teacher to join a vibrant and inclusive primary school in Brixton, starting as soon as possible. This is an excellent opportunity for a teacher who is passionate about Upper Key Stage 2 and enjoys delivering engaging, challenging lessons that prepare pupils for the transition into Year 6.

The Role
As a Year 5 Teacher, you will be responsible for planning, delivering, and assessing high-quality lessons across the Key Stage 2 curriculum. You will promote independence, resilience, and high expectations while supporting pupils’ academic progress and personal development. Working closely with teaching assistants and colleagues, you will ensure all pupils, including those with SEND and EAL, are fully supported.
You will also play an important role in preparing pupils for the demands of Year 6, supporting them academically and emotionally. Strong communication with parents and carers is essential to ensure consistent support and strong home–school relationships.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, deliver, and assess engaging lessons across the Year 5 curriculum
Deliver high-quality literacy, numeracy, and foundation subject teaching
Differentiate learning to meet the needs of all pupils
Promote positive behaviour, independence, and resilience
Maintain a structured, inclusive, and positive classroom environment
Track pupil progress and maintain accurate assessment records
Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and KS2 colleagues
Communicate regularly with parents and carers regarding pupil progress
Contribute to staff meetings, CPD sessions, and whole-school initiatives
Support enrichment activities and school events
Ensure safeguarding and child protection procedures are followed
Who We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate will:
Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Have experience teaching in Upper Key Stage 2, ideally Year 5
Demonstrate strong classroom management and organisational skills
Be reflective, adaptable, and proactive
Show a strong commitment to inclusion, safeguarding, and pupil wellbeing
Work effectively as part of a professional and supportive team
Location
