Job Summary

Are you a high-achieving STEM graduate eager to use your knowledge to inspire young people and make a real difference?

This ambitious Croydon secondary school is seeking a STEM Graduate Teaching Assistant for September 2025. With state-of-the-art facilities, excellent results and a passionate staff, it offers graduates the chance to inspire pupils in Maths, Science, Engineering, or Computer Science.

The role involves supporting KS3 and KS4 students, helping them build confidence and achieve academically, while gaining valuable classroom experience. Ideal candidates are motivated by more than academics, committed to making a real impact.

Key Responsibilities

As a STEM Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Support teachers in delivering high-quality, engaging STEM lessons across KS3 and KS4
  • Provide 1:1 and small group academic support to boost student progress
  • Help pupils grow in confidence and engagement through tailored guidance and encouragement
  • Assist with lesson preparation, classroom organisation, and practical resources in Science, Maths, or Computing
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, inspiring them to see STEM as exciting, creative, and rewarding

Who We’re Looking For

To excel as a STEM Graduate Teaching Assistant, you should have:

  • A 2:1 or higher in a STEM subject (Maths, Science, Engineering, Computing, or related discipline)
  • Exceptional subject knowledge and a genuine love for STEM learning
  • A strong desire to work with young people for the right reasons—to inspire, support, and make a difference
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A proactive, resilient, and adaptable approach to classroom support
  • An interest in progressing into teacher training or education as a long-term career
  • Experience working with young people (desirable but not essential)

What We Offer

This is an outstanding opportunity for a STEM Graduate Teaching Assistant to join a school where STEM subjects are a priority and investment is ongoing. You will:

  • Gain daily classroom experience supporting students across a range of STEM subjects
  • Observe and learn from passionate teachers who deliver outstanding STEM lessons
  • Develop your skills in lesson delivery, communication, and student support
  • Contribute to both academic outcomes and creative STEM enrichment activities
  • Benefit from modern facilities, excellent transport links, and a supportive staff team

Alongside this, the role is designed as the perfect stepping stone into teaching. As a STEM Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will be supported with mentoring and professional guidance, while observing best practice from outstanding teachers. This experience will give you the skills, confidence, and knowledge to pursue teacher training from September 2026 and beyond.
