What You'll Do:
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
- Supporting the business by providing commercially sound advice on legal issues in relation to commercial and revenue generating opportunities.
- Management of the contracting process from inception to signature for a number of high-profile events and projects, both in the UK and globally.
- Generally dealing with all areas of commercial legal work i.e. Data protection, disputes, intellectual property, compliance, etc. And outsourcing and liaising with external counsel when appropriate.
- Pro-actively working with the legal team (London and International colleagues) to ensure that best practice and knowledge is understood, shared and utilised amongst the team.
- Advising clients on terms that are as robust and favourable as possible to the Company.
- Liaise with the business so that commercial, pragmatic and salient advice and guidance on business opportunities and risk can be followed at all times.
- Working pro-actively and closely with the business to ensure that colleagues are aware of the importance of involving the Legal team at the outset in any commercial opportunity or discussion.
- Assisting with and leading on new projects from a legal perspective as and when they arise.
Please Note e.g. Shift(s)/ unsocial hours/ travel etc
- Occasional travel to other offices in London will be required.
- Occasionally there will be late calls to facilitate meetings and briefings with the wider global legal team and business.
- You will also be required to work some unsociable hours to meet business deadlines.
Key Results Areas
- The role will involve events work on a range of properties, across our owned and managed events portfolio.
- Development of systems and efficiencies in-house to facilitate efficient deal making with strong safeguards in place.
You Have These:
Mandatory
- Fully qualified Solicitor
- 4-8 years PQE
- Experience of drafting general commercial contracts.
- Worked in a commercial environment.
- Training in top tier legal practice.
- Assimilates and understands key aspects of commercial opportunities with speed and accuracy.
- Excellent written and spoken English, with meticulous attention to detail.
- Commercial mindset with a focus on delivering pragmatic, workable solutions.
- Can juggle and prioritise a varied and heavy workload, while planning ahead effectively.
- Delivers to deadlines with efficiency and accuracy.
- Communicates clearly and concisely with clients at all levels, internally and externally.
- Flexible, intuitive and willing to take on extra responsibility.
- Team orientated, focused and fun to work with.
- Ability to develop rapport with immediate and wider colleagues.
- Disciplined, hard-working and committed.
- An enthusiasm for and interest in sport, events and entertainment.
Desirable
- Experience of drafting events-related sponsorship, supplier and venue hire contracts.
- Experience of working with cultural organisations.
- Experience of working with high level executives in own and client/customer organisations.
- Has an interest in sport and live events.
