Main Duties

Curriculum Planning and Delivery:

• Plan and deliver engaging lessons for Science, including KS3 and KS4 Biology.

• Differentiate lessons to meet the individual needs of all students, ensuring their progress.

• Monitor, assess, and report on student performance through grade cards, annual reports, and Parents’ Evenings.

• Contribute to Life Skills, PSHE, and Enrichment programmes.

Classroom Management and Administration:

• Maintain a safe, organised, and resourceful classroom environment.

• Effectively manage student behaviour to foster a positive and productive learning atmosphere.

• Supervise and support Teaching Assistants in delivering learning objectives.

• Record attendance accurately and comply with all school policies and procedures.

Subject Leadership:

• Stay updated with developments in Science education, attending departmental meetings and training.

• Assist in creating and developing schemes of work, lesson plans, and teaching resources.

Pastoral Responsibilities:

• Provide pastoral care, including acting as a form tutor if required.

• Ensure students’ health, safety, and good conduct in lessons and school activities.

Extra-Curricular Engagement:

• Promote careers in STEM through educational visits, guest speakers, and themed events.

• Encourage participation in science fairs, projects, and enrichment activities.

Professional Responsibilities:

• Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and school events.

• Participate in performance management and professional development.

• Cover lessons for absent colleagues and set appropriate work during absences.

About You

• Strong subject knowledge in Science, including Biology.

• Excellent classroom management skills with the ability to engage and motivate students.

• Effective communication, organisation, and time-management skills.

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent qualification/experience.

• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

• Willing to undertake Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks and Child Protection Training.
