The Role
Senior QA Engineer at SO ENERGY
We are seeking experienced Senior QA Engineers to join our dynamic team at SO Energy, led by our Director of Technology Muhammad Khan. We need a proactive and skilled professional who thrives in a collaborative environment and is passionate about ensuring the quality and reliability of our digital products.
As a Senior QA Engineer , you will play a crucial role in designing, building, improving, and supporting the QA processes across the SO Energy platform. You should be adept at leveraging modern QA practices, including test automation frameworks, BDD (Behavior Driven Development), load testing, and agile methodologies, to deliver consistent value and ensure the highest quality of our software products.
You will be part of a multi-disciplinary and multinational team, working with a diverse tech stack that includes tools and technologies such as Cypress, Playwright, JMeter, and Github Actions. This role provides an excellent opportunity to deepen your expertise in test automation and quality assurance while enhancing the performance and reliability of our systems.

Reporting into James Lund (Engineering Manager)
What you’ll be getting up to:
- Reporting & Communication: Monitor, analyse, and report on automated test results, ensuring quality and identifying areas for improvement.
- Lead Automation Strategy & Implementation: Define and implement a robust QA automation strategy across multiple development teams. Develop, maintain, and enhance automation test frameworks, with a strong emphasis on BDD practices.
- Automate and Enhance our SDLC feedback loops: Work to shorten feedback loops in our CD/CD and SDLC so that we can automatically test new changes rapidly, and ship code as fast as possible
- Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with developers, product owners, and stakeholders to understand requirements and integrate testing seamlessly into the development lifecycle.
- Design and Execute Test Plans: Develop and maintain test plans, test cases, and scripts for both functional and non-functional testing (regression, performance, smoke testing).
- Drive Load and Performance Testing: Design and implement load testing strategies for performance and scalability.
- Quality Advocate & Process Improvement: Promote a quality-first culture, driving continuous improvement in testing processes and tools. Mentor and coach QA engineers on best practices in automation and testing methodologies.
This role will be a great fit if:
- Excellent Communication and Collaboration Skills, comfortable working across cross-functional teams.
- Experience with Automation Testing Frameworks: Especially BDD (Cucumber, SpecFlow).
- Proficiency with Tools like Cypress, Selenium, or Playwright for UI automation testing.
- Experience in Load Testing and Performance Optimization (e.g., JMeter, LoadRunner).
- Understanding of Frontend Technologies (JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, CSS) and frameworks (React, Angular).
- Ability to query databases: Proficiency in SQL and the ability to find data
- Experience Supporting Multiple Dev Teams in Agile Environments.
- Hands-on Experience with CI/CD Pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions).
- Strong Leadership and Mentorship Skills, fostering best practices in automation.
