Financial Accountant

About the Role:
We have a small but strong finance team and want to bolster the team further to support the growing needs of the business. We have very ambitious business goals and our Financial Accountant will be a crucial part of the team to help achieve these.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare financial statements in compliance with IFRS/UK GAAP, ensuring accurate and timely monthly/annual reporting.
- Develop and maintain robust internal controls and financial processes, driving continuous improvement across Finance with a focus on automation and standardisation.
- Provide technical accounting guidance, supporting complex transactions including securitised debt instruments as well as standard financial control functions e.g. bank reconciliations, accounts payable etc.
- Assist with audit processes, liaising with external auditors and ensuring compliance.
- Work closely with stakeholders to enhance financial processes and reporting.
- Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning initiatives.
- Contribute to strategic financial decision-making and business improvement initiatives.
About You:
- Strong technical accounting skills (UK GAAP, IFRS etc), confident in your knowledge, with the ability to explain and present complex financial concepts in a straightforward way.
- Excellent analytical skills with strong attention to detail – ensuring all numbers in your outputs can be explained.
- An inquisitive mindset, displaying a deeper level of thinking and looking for solutions and new ways of working.
- Comfortable taking ownership of financial control activities, showing high levels of organisation and the ability to manage workload.
- Proactive engagement with key stakeholders across the business.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA, CIMA), experienced in financial control positions.
- Regulated financial services experience is essential, ideally UK Retail Banking or similar, with experience in a rapid growth / start up environment a bonus.
- Advanced excel skills and working SQL knowledge is essential , with ability to navigate and perform ad-hoc SQL queries.
FCA Compliance & Consumer Duty

•Maintaining finance policies, procedures and governance documentation.
•Maintain up-to-date knowledge of financial and accounting regulations to ensure they are applied consistently and accurately.
•Overseeing FCA regulatory reporting requirement.
