Job Title: IBA Accounts Technician (Underwriting)

The purpose of this role is to:

• To provide efficient, high quality accounting support to internal and external customers

• To ensure day to day compliance with the systems and controls, established by the firm and to ensure compliance with FCA Rules – CASS 5

• To ensure compliance with FCA rules on Financial Crime prevention

Main Responsibilities:

• Ensure all debts are collected as soon as possible and all liabilities are settled within agreed credit terms

• Ensure all cash received is matched as soon as possible

• Ensure that all processes are being completed on a timely and accurate basis

• Ensure accounting ledgers are maintained in an up to date and accurate manner

• To produce accurate and timely management information on both a regular and ad hoc basis

• Regular liaison with other departments regarding outstanding queries, particularly cash queries

• Ensure that all outstanding cash under query with Underwriters are chased on a weekly basis

• Prepare and despatch statements of accounts in accordance with account holders requirements and/or when requested by divisions

• Maintain accurate, comprehensive and up to date records, accessible to all parties that require them

• Monitor client money payments to company stakeholders

• Notify appropriate individuals of potential bad debt exposures at earliest possible stage and enlist assistance where appropriate

• Assist the IBA Department Manager and team to undertake other duties, ad hoc tasks and projects

Compliance:

Comply with relevant legal, regulatory and Ardonagh compliance requirements, Errors and Omissions (E&O) compliance procedures and quality initiatives

Escalate any potential E&O's to Divisional Directors and the Legal & Compliance team at the earliest opportunity

Knowledge Required:

· A good knowledge of FCA rules and guidelines relating to commercial and private customers

· A good knowledge of FCA Rules CASS 5

· A good knowledge of general insurance and underlying legal principles

· A good knowledge of banking methods and accounting principles

· 5 years’ experience working in the insurance sector

Skills Required:

· Develop and sustain good working relationships with internal and external clients

· Ability to work supportively and jointly with colleagues

· Confident and effective telephone skills

· Ability to work under pressure when necessary

· Ability to construct written communications that are effective and meet business needs

· Ability to prioritise and organise own workload to ensure that deadlines are adhered to

· Accurate data input skills

· IT Skills: MS Word, MS Excel, Outlook. Desirable: Open Twins, Brokasure Desktop, Global XB and DXC platforms
