Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

Our candidates are at the heart of our business, so this is an important position within the team and will give you the opportunity to develop a strong understanding of recruitment from the candidate side.

As your knowledge, confidence and experience develop, you will be given the opportunity to progress into a 360 recruitment role, which will include candidate attraction, client management, business development and winning new business.

This is a role for someone looking for a long-term career, rather than simply an apprenticeship. We are a growing business and are expanding into new areas of recruitment, so there will be opportunities for the successful person to develop their career and take on additional responsibilities as the company grows.

What is a Technical Consultant?

A Technical Consultant within recruitment works closely with both candidates and employers to understand their requirements and match the right people to the right opportunities.

In this role, you will initially concentrate heavily on the candidate journey, supporting candidates through registration, compliance, interviews and placements. You will develop strong communication and relationship-building skills while learning how the recruitment industry operates.

Over time, you will develop the commercial side of recruitment, including sourcing new candidates, understanding client requirements, developing client relationships, business development and ultimately managing the full recruitment process from initial contact through to placement.

Your role will initially include:

  • Supporting the Compliance Manager with candidate registrations and compliance checks
  • Speaking with candidates over the telephone and building strong professional relationships
  • Keeping candidates updated throughout the recruitment process
  • Helping candidates prepare for interviews and assignments
  • Coordinating interviews, availability and candidate information
  • Following up with candidates regarding documentation and outstanding requirements
  • Maintaining accurate candidate records and recruitment systems
  • Advertising and sourcing suitable candidates for vacancies
  • Screening candidates and understanding their skills, experience and suitability
  • Communicating with candidates regarding available opportunities
  • Supporting candidates through the onboarding and placement process
  • Developing an understanding of recruitment legislation, compliance and best practice
  • Learning how different recruitment sectors operate
  • Working closely with the wider team to ensure candidates receive a high level of service

As you develop, you will progress into:

  • Managing candidates through the full recruitment lifecycle
  • Developing relationships with clients and understanding their recruitment requirements
  • Business development and generating new opportunities
  • Making outbound calls to prospective clients
  • Winning new business and developing existing accounts
  • Taking responsibility for vacancies from initial requirement through to placement
  • Negotiating with candidates and clients
  • Building your own candidate and client portfolio
  • Working towards targets and commission
  • Developing into a 360 Recruitment Consultant
