Branch Supervisor
Lawsons is the UK’s largest independent supplier of timber, fencing, and building materials. With over 35 branches and 700+ colleagues across London and the South East, we deliver quality products, expert advice, and top-class customer service. We are seeking an experienced, customer-focused individual to join our team as a Branch Supervisor at our Acton branch.
Branch Supervisor Opportunity — Acton
Are you an organised and proactive supervisor with experience in builders’ merchants, retail, or warehouse operations? Do you take pride in high standards of customer service, team leadership, and health & safety? This role offers the chance to lead a busy branch, support colleagues, and help drive local commercial performance within a respected and growing business.
Main Responsibilities
Lead, coach and develop branch colleagues to deliver excellent customer service, safe working practices, and sales performance
Manage day-to-day branch operations including stock control, stock replenishment, merchandising and yard organisation
Ensure an efficient and customer-focused branch environment for trade and retail customers, resolving enquiries and issues promptly and professionally
Oversee health & safety compliance, ensuring all team members follow company procedures and complete required checks and paperwork
Support the branch manager with local targets, reporting, and implementing promotional activity to drive sales and margin
Assist with receiving and checking deliveries, maintaining accurate records of stock movements and returns
Deliver operational tasks as needed, including cashiering, telesales, and yard duties to ensure smooth branch running
Promote a positive team culture built on respect, integrity and customer care
Essential Skills & Experience
Proven supervisory or team leader experience within builders’ merchants, retail, distribution or similar environment
Strong customer service focus with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively
Working knowledge of stock control and basic merchandising principles
Committed to health & safety best practice and familiar with routine checks and reporting
Confident using IT systems for stock, sales and basic reporting; willingness to learn company systems
Reliable, flexible and able to work as part of a busy team with occasional weekend or early starts as required
Working Hours
This is a full-time, permanent position. 44.5 hours per week across Monday to Friday with 1 in 2 Saturday mornings working 08.00 - 12.00.
