Head of IT and Infrastructure

Red Badger
London

About Red Badger

We’re a tech and product consultancy, building enterprise software products for blue chip companies, multinationals and PLC’s. The best bit about Red Badger is; of course;  the team. We’ve been around for 15+ years now and we are over 100 strong. We are really proud of our people; we support and learn a lot from each other; we work really hard but have fun doing it. We are a diverse group made up of 22 different nationalities, speaking 17 different languages. Headquartered in London we also have offices in Leeds and Cape Town and Australia and New Zealand

Role Overview

As the Head of IT & Infrastructure, you will have end-to-end ownership of Red Badger’s global IT landscape. This is a dynamic, high-impact role that blends strategic leadership with hands-on execution. You will ensure our multi-location staff enjoy frictionless, secure, and reliable technology experiences every day.

You will manage our identity stack, cloud networking, SaaS ecosystem, device fleet, and compliance standards (ISO 27001 & Cyber Essentials) across our four hubs (London, Leeds, Cape Town, and Australia & New Zealand). As Red Badger grows, you will build and lead a distributed IT team, travelling to regional hubs when necessary to establish local infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

1. Global Infrastructure, Identity & Access Management

  • Administer, optimise, and secure our cloud-first identity and access ecosystem, centered around Google Workspace and JumpCloud.
  • Implement and enforce modern zero-trust architecture, maintaining Single Sign-On (SSO) and SCIM provisioning across all company applications.
  • Manage, maintain, and upgrade physical networks across all locations, including firewalls, Wi-Fi infrastructure, and cloud RADIUS setup.

2. SaaS Ecosystem & Vendor Management

  • Act as the commercial and administrative owner for Red Badger’s SaaS stack (100+ applications).
  • Oversee license management, vendor renewals, billing optimization, and procurement to ensure cost efficiency and compliance.

3. User Support, AV & Daily Operations

  • Provide high-touch 1st-line and escalated support to all Red Badger staff across time zones (London, Leeds, Cape Town, Australia & New Zealand).
  • Administer and maintain office Audio-Visual systems, specifically Google Meet Hardware rooms, ensuring seamless hybrid collaboration.
  • Establish IT onboarding/offboarding workflows that guarantee day-one readiness for new hires worldwide.

4. Device Fleet Management (MDM)

  • Manage the full lifecycle of Red Badger's endpoint fleet (laptops and mobile devices), including procurement, deployment, patch management, security policy enforcement, and eco-friendly disposal via MDM tools.

5. Governance, Security & Compliance

  • Lead, gain, and maintain key industry certifications, including Cyber Essentials / Cyber Essentials Plus and ISO 27001.
  • Take responsibility for ensuring data retention policies are in place and align to current legislation.
  • Conduct regular security audits, vulnerability assessments, and access reviews across all systems.
  • Create, update, and enforce IT security policies and disaster recovery procedures.

6. Global Growth & Team Leadership

  • Support business growth in regional hubs (Leeds, Cape Town, Australia & New Zealand) by defining local IT setups and travelling on-site during initial rollouts or expansions.
  • Hire, mentor, and build a high-performing distributed IT support team as headcount grows in regional hubs.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Proven Experience: 5+ years of experience in IT administration or management, preferably within a fast-growing digital agency, tech consultancy, or scale-up.
  • Core Identity Tools: Expert-level mastery of Google Workspace administration and JumpCloud.
  • Identity Architecture: Deep hands-on experience setting up and managing SSO, SCIM provisioning, and cloud RADIUS.
  • Networking & Hardware: Solid experience managing enterprise network equipment (UniFi, Meraki, or similar), firewalls, Wi-Fi, and Google Meet AV setups.
  • Compliance: Proven track record in achieving and maintaining ISO 27001 and Cyber Essentials compliance.
  • Device Management: Strong experience managing Apple (macOS/iOS) fleets using JumpCloud MDM.
  • Vendor & Budget Ownership: Comfortable managing vendor relationships, negotiating software contracts, and controlling SaaS spending.
  • Adaptability & Mobility: Willingness to travel to international hubs (Cape Town, Australia & New Zealand) and UK offices (Leeds) when establishing new infrastructure.

Desirable Qualities & Soft Skills

  • Service-Minded Culture: Outstanding interpersonal skills and a empathy-first attitude toward supporting team members.
  • Pragmatic Security: Ability to balance robust security practices with employee productivity and frictionless workflows.
  • Autonomy: Self-motivated and comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment where you own outcomes from strategy down to execution.
