AI Specialist

Key Responsibilities
1. Hands-On AI Solution Development in ALTEN Projects
- Analyse ALTEN Structured Projects to identify AI integration opportunities for productivity, quality, or innovation gains.
- Design, code, train, and test AI models tailored to use cases (e.g., NLP, CV, RAG, forecasting, etc.).
- Perform effort estimation and model validation and monitor deployment success and cost-performance trade-offs.
- Collaborate closely with local technical leads while owning the technical delivery of AI capabilities.
2. Technical AI Leadership in Tenders and Bids
- Assess customer tenders to identify opportunities for AI-driven innovation.
- Design working AI prototypes or demos to demonstrate feasibility and value.
- Contribute precise technical descriptions and implementation plans for inclusion in proposals.
- Represent ALTEN’s AI capabilities in technical discussions with clients.
3. Pre-Sales AI Support
- Join business development teams during client meetings to demonstrate working AI use cases and platforms.
- Co-develop and present tailored AI solutions with real-world impact, not just slideware.
- Build trust with clients through proof of value and live examples of implemented solutions.
Required Technical Skills
- Machine Learning , Deep Learning , Natural Language Processing , Computer Vision , Generative AI , Reinforcement Learning , LLMs (e.g., GPT, Claude, Mistral, LLaMA, DeepSeek, etc.).
- Agent-based architectures , RAG , prompt engineering , chatbots , classification , summarization , speech-to-text , image understanding.
- Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- ML Ops tools and deployment workflows.
- AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Tabnine).
- Familiarity with data platforms like Dataiku, Databricks.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals (Python preferred; others welcome).
Key Skills & Experience
- Ideally 5+ years of professional experience, including 3+ years in AI and data science with evidence of practical, real-world contributions.
- Master's degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related discipline with a strong technical portfolio in AI/ML.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience developing and deploying AI/ML solutions.
- Strong applied AI skills (through academic projects, internships, or personal contributions)
- Technical depth and hands-on proficiency.
- A problem-solving mindset and ability to work independently on AI tasks.
- A clear motivation to build and deploy impactful AI systems.
- Self-starter with a problem-solving mindset.
- Clear communicator with the ability to explain complex AI concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Team player who thrives in cross-functional collaborations.
- Adaptable and delivery-focused.
This role will require you to have or be willing to go through Security Clearance. As part of the onboarding process candidates will be asked to complete a Baseline Personnel Security Standard; details of the evidence required to apply may be found on the government website Gov.UK. If you are unable to meet this and any associated criteria, then your employment may be delayed, or rejected. Details of this will be discussed with you at interview.
