About Us:

THE EXTRAORDINARY STORY OF HAYLEA’S UNBEATABLE SPIRIT

Westminster City Council is a world of extraordinary stories. Where people use their optimism and talent to achieve more than anyone thought possible.

Nobody personifies this more than Haylea Navarro. Born with cerebral palsy and paralysed down one side since birth, Haylea has been gleefully proving people wrong ever since. Now a project officer, she brings faster broadband connectivity to Westminster businesses, boosting the economy for all. Throw in her gong at the 2020 London Apprenticeship Awards, and it’s clear for all to see just what can happen when you never give in.

The Role:

As an Employer Relationship Support Officer on a 12 month temporary contract you can make your own powerful contribution to Westminster’s success. In this role you will provide support to the Employer Relationship Team that is part of Employment and Skills. You will focus on supporting the delivery of key projects. Helping to arrange meetings and provide supporting material that encourages businesses to build strong relationships and networks, you’ll also assist with the ongoing evolution of our innovative range of recruitment strategies.

Organising marketing and promotional material, you’ll collaborate with a number of stakeholders as they contribute to newsletters and other products, and coordinate community engagement and recruitment through job fairs and other events. Working with senior colleagues to promote new job brokerage services in priority areas throughout Westminster, we’ll also expect you to manage the day-to-day process which helps people secure roles in our priority areas of focus.

Engaging with residents, encouraging them to take advantage of the opportunities on offer, and promoting WES and employment rights throughout our borough, you’ll support the allocation of funding that reduces or eliminates the barriers residents face when attempting to secure a role. Additional tasks will include managing the administration of booking event spaces and meeting rooms, and maintaining and updating the systems used by you and your team.

Please refer to the Job Description for more information.

About You:

To be a success in this role you’ll have well developed experience of aligning and engaging with members of a collaborative and tightly-knit team, and of expressing your thoughts and ideas with sensitivity and respect for everyone you interact with. It’s important that you’re ready to manage diaries, schedules and events, and you should also be capable of inputting and summarising information for software platforms such as Customer Relationship Management systems.

With a good understanding of current employment best practices such as the London Living Wage, and the skills to support the design and delivery of services by following established guidelines and procedures, you’ll have the confidence to contribute to positive development efforts and learning. Friendly, approachable and always ready to build a positive rapport with people at all levels and from a diverse range of backgrounds, you’ll be capable of responding flexibly to changing priorities while maintaining a healthy and productive work-life balance.

This is a role where your superb communication skills will be put to great use, as will your ability to solve problems and sense check information. You should also be a confident user of IT systems and equipment, with a particular focus on Microsoft’s suite of software.
