Menswear Buyer

Ted Baker
London

Ted Baker has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Menswear Buyer to join the close-knit, collaborative Buying team in London, playing a key role in shaping and delivering commercially successful menswear ranges.

Reporting directly to the Head of Buying, the Buyer will take ownership of the Knit, Jersey and Woven categories, playing a key role in product selection, development and range building.

The role offers hybrid working, with flexibility around working hours and office days for the right candidate.

This position would suit a commercially focused Buyer with excellent product knowledge, a strong understanding of the menswear customer and the confidence to make well-informed buying decisions. You will have an active role in the day-to-day Buying function while also providing guidance and support to more junior members of the team.

Key Responsibilities of the Menswear Buyer:

  • Take ownership of the commercial performance of the Knit, Jersey and Woven categories, delivering against agreed sales, margin and financial targets.
  • Develop commercially balanced and customer-focused ranges that reflect the overall brand strategy.
  • Manage option counts, pricing and product architecture to maximise category performance and profitability.
  • Identify opportunities for newness, innovation and growth while maintaining a strong commercial focus.
  • Ensure product selections meet customer expectations while remaining aligned with the brand's identity, quality and pricing strategy.
  • Work closely with the Technical team throughout the product development process to ensure products meet required standards for quality, fit and performance.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and manufacturers, negotiating costs, MOQs, lead times and delivery requirements.
  • Monitor market and competitor activity, using insight to inform range development and buying decisions.
  • Work collaboratively with wider departments to ensure ranges are delivered effectively and to agreed timelines.
  • Support, coach and develop the Assistant Buyer and Buying Admin Assistant, sharing knowledge, market insight and best practice.

What Ted Baker is looking for:

  • Proven experience working as a Buyer within menswear, with specific experience across Knit, Jersey and Woven categories.
  • Strong commercial awareness and a proven track record of delivering against sales and margin targets.
  • Experience negotiating with suppliers and manufacturers and managing commercial relationships.
  • Excellent product knowledge and a strong understanding of current menswear trends, customers and the wider market.
  • Strong product development experience, with an understanding of the process from initial concept through to final product.
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and relevant buying systems.
  • The confidence to make commercial decisions and influence stakeholders across the business.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with a collaborative approach.
  • Ability to remain calm and solutions-focused in a fast-paced environment.
  • A genuine passion for menswear, product and delivering commercially successful ranges.
  • Experience within a wholesale environment is a plus.

What Ted Baker can offer:

  • Hybrid working
  • Flexible working hours and office days for the right candidate
  • Opportunity to join an established and successful fashion business
  • Collaborative and supportive Buying team
  • Excellent opportunity to influence and develop the menswear product offer
