Graduate Psychology Teaching Assistant

£100 per day (term-time only) – Full-Time – 1 Year Fixed Contract

Are you a Psychology graduate looking to take your first step into education?

Do you aspire to become an Educational Psychologist or a specialist SEN teacher?

Would you thrive in a school that prioritises inclusion and provides hands-on training from experienced professionals?

If so, this Graduate Psychology Teaching Assistant role in Enfield could be the perfect fit for you.

We are working with a highly regarded secondary school in Enfield that boasts a thriving inclusion department. With a large number of students holding Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), the school is fully committed to supporting young people with diverse needs – from autism spectrum conditions to speech and language difficulties, ADHD, social, emotional and mental health needs, and specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia and dyspraxia.

This is a full-time role for the entire academic year, offering graduates invaluable experience of working directly with young people with additional learning needs. You will:

  • Provide tailored one-to-one and small group support to students with SEN.
  • Help young people build their confidence, resilience, and independence within the classroom.
  • Work under the guidance of the school’s SENCO, who will act as your mentor throughout the year.
  • Have opportunities to shadow and learn from the school’s Educational Psychologist, gaining first-hand insight into assessments, strategies, and interventions used to support learners.
  • Develop practical classroom management skills and a deep understanding of how SEN provision is delivered in a mainstream setting.

This role is perfectly suited for graduates who are considering careers in Educational Psychology, Speech and Language Therapy, SEN teaching, or related fields. The structured mentorship and exposure you’ll receive here will ensure you are fully prepared for further study or training.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Hold a degree in Psychology (minimum 2:1 preferred).
  • Demonstrate patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting young people with SEN.
  • Be committed, resilient, and able to adapt their approach to meet individual needs.
  • Have strong communication skills and the ability to build trusting relationships with students and staff alike.

This is a rare opportunity to join a school where inclusion is at the heart of everything they do. With a competitive daily rate paid weekly, term-time only), you’ll gain an incredible foundation for your future career in psychology or education.
