Head of People

Electrify
London

Head of People

An opportunity to join an exciting, well-funded and fast-growing creator economy business.

Electrify is a collective of creator-led businesses - including Veritasium, fern, Fireship, Mentour Pilot, The Rundown AI and others - brought together through acquisition and a common focus on making the world wiser. Each brand has its own history, creative culture and way of working, and we add new ones each year. We are around 150 people across more than 15 countries, fully remote, with the team based mostly in Western European time zones. Helping each of our teams succeed while building the right shared foundations is the central challenge of this role.

About the role

We are seeking a Head of People to act as a central point of contact and trusted advisor for all employees, line managers, partners and leaders. You will ensure consistency of best practices where it matters but allow flexibility where it is needed. You will influence and be a role model of behaviours.

This is a true generalist role that will assist with all areas of the employee lifecycle. We are looking for someone confident in making decisions and using their initiative with enthusiasm and integrity. This role will be key to the Company's growth and is an opportunity to build an effective and trusted People function while creating your own legacy with your small, diverse support team.

You must demonstrate prior success in supporting fast-growing businesses with processes, procedures and organisational culture. You must be willing to work in an agile, 100% remote environment. You will embrace AI and technology to make every touchpoint with the People function easy. A large part of this role is bringing new teams into Electrify, adding value without flattening the culture that makes each brand special. A passion for delivering exceptional service to your stakeholders is imperative.

We run on HiBob for HRIS, TeamTailor for recruiting, Deel for international employment, TalentDesk for freelancers and Google Workspace and Slack for everything else.

Key Responsibilities

  • Understand, represent and reinforce our values and influence our culture through all People practices.

  • Provide and implement an efficient generalist “Self Help People Service” utilising AI and pragmatic tech solutions where possible.

  • Make hiring faster and better across the group with approaches suited to creative and creator-economy talent, not just standard pipelines.

  • Work with leaders on a dynamic succession planning process and development of High Potential team members.

  • Implement inclusive culture-building activities to support cohesion and the development of strong working relationships.

  • Improve processes and systems throughout the employee lifecycle to enable our business to scale (e.g., structured performance reviews and feedback loops; rewards and recognition processes; learning and development).

  • Ensuring a consistent, compliant and welcoming onboarding experience for new joiners, that can be delivered locally as well as at scale for mergers and acquisitions.

  • Develop and implement diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.

  • Design, lead and drive the people agenda. This will include reviewing, implementing and adapting HR policies that are compliant with local legislation and maximising efficiency via technology.

  • Ensure compliance with local employment legislation across multiple demographic territories.

Skills and experience

  • Positive, energetic, enthusiastic, with a can-do attitude.

  • Self-driven, taking the initiative to complete tasks and lead projects.

  • Minimum 8 years' work experience in human resources at a business partner level, in fully remote or hybrid work environments.

  • Knowledge and experience with best-in-class systems and technology to deliver a modern and efficient employee experience for a remote workforce.

  • Ability to lead and manage multiple projects at once with strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail.

  • Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with cross-functional audiences.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee information.

  • CIPD qualified (or nearly qualified) or equivalent.

  • Bachelor's degree or higher (or relevant industry experience equivalent).

  • Experience with international employment matters with particular focus in the UK, European and North American employment markets, and employer-of-record arrangements.

  • Experience with acquisitions / post-acquisition integration.

Desirable

  • Experience in the media industry.

  • Experience working as part of a high-growth start-up

  • Understanding and experience in supporting the relationships across freelance contractors and other long-term service providers.

  • Experience working with multiple different countries / different time zones.

  • Experience operating in a stand-alone role.
