This is an exciting opportunity for a dual-subject practitioner, whether an experienced teacher seeking a collaborative environment or an ambitious Early Career Teacher (ECT), to deliver high-impact spatial and historical learning across a high-aspiring student body.
About the Role
As a Geography Specialist with History capability, you will bridge environmental systems, spatial dynamics, and human history into a cohesive, interdisciplinary learning experience. Joining the department for the spring term, your primary focus will be delivering engaging, fieldwork-driven lessons across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4 (GCSE Geography), and potentially Key Stage 5 (A-Level Geography), while contributing teaching support across Key Stage 3 and GCSE History modules.

Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver academically rich, engaging Geography lessons across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5, alongside structured Key Stage 3/4 History modules that build spatial literacy, source analysis, and critical thinking.
Prepare GCSE (and A-Level where applicable) candidates thoroughly for national examinations using data-driven progress tracking, targeted essay coaching, and diagnostic feedback routines.
Lead and support local fieldwork investigations and historical case-study projects, teaching pupils empirical data collection, GIS analysis, and evidence-based reporting.
Monitor, track, and evaluate student progress, applying targeted extension strategies to stretch high-aspiring humanities scholars while scaffolding core concepts for developing learners.
Contribute positively to department enrichment, including eco-clubs, historical debate societies, field trips, and university humanities application guidance.
Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognized teaching credential.
A strong academic degree in Geography, Environmental Science, History, or a combined Humanities discipline.
Proven track record or demonstrated capability of delivering outstanding Geography teaching across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, backed by confident subject knowledge to teach History up to KS3/KS4.
Thorough knowledge of national Geography and History examination board specifications (e.g., AQA, Edexcel, OCR).
Superior classroom presence, strong analytical and spatial demonstration skills, and an infectious enthusiasm for global sustainability, physical landscapes, and human history.
Salary & Benefits
Pay Scale: Outer London Main / Upper Pay Scale (MPS/UPS Outer London, commensurate with experience), with potential TLR opportunities available for Fieldwork Coordination or Humanities Enrichment.
Teachers’ Pension Scheme (TPS), comprehensive continuous professional development (CPD), structured onboarding for a smooth January transition, and access to staff health and wellbeing schemes.
