UX/UI Designer Mobile (12m FTC)

Technology is central to everything we do and as such we have invested heavily in our in-house development teams who deliver industry leading, web and mobile-based solutions. The development teams use some of the latest web technologies working on greenfield projects, AI-enabled product initiatives and applying modern development practices. All projects are run using Agile practices.

We are looking for a passionate and ambitious UX/UI designer, with a strong focus on responsive web and native app design, and an interest in user research, and enthusiasm for emerging AI technologies, to join us at Argus Media and help us bring complex ideas to life. We need a focused and creative individual who is able to understand the objective at the highest level and yet still deliver down to the finest detail.

Working as part of the Argus technology department in our central London office, you will be working closely with several different cross-functional teams and directly with internal customers.

This exciting role will require you to be resourceful and adaptable. You will be working on a variety of projects and products, including innovative AI-powered experiences, with the chance to make your mark on the direction of the company. You will need to be passionate about the customer experience, ensuring that it runs as smoothly as possible, and driven by insights from running your own user research studies and analysis.

Key Responsibilities

• Responsible for the user experience of a range of Argus Media digital products for both responsive web and native platforms

• Comfortable designing for Flutter-based applications or similar cross-platform frameworks, creating a single design that delivers a strong user experience across both Android and iOS

• Understanding when intentional platform-specific adjustments are required but maintaining a consistent experience with enterprise desktop applications

• Gathering and evaluating user and stakeholder requirements, in collaboration with product owners, product managers and engineers

• Championing design quality throughout the whole development process, ensuring delivery of high-quality, intuitive, scalable and reusable solutions.

• Understanding technical limitations, providing clear handovers, reviewing implemented designs, raising defects, collaborating with development teams to resolve issues, and challenging implementations where necessary.

• Defining the right interaction models and evaluating their success.

• Visualising design ideas using storyboards, mock-ups, low-to-hi fidelity prototypes and AI-assisted design tools to rapidly generate, explore and refine concepts.

• Representing the UX function across various teams and products

• Facilitating design workshops with the various teams to collaborate on initial ideas and wireframes.

• Implementing functional ideas, use cases, user stories into prototypes for user testing and development.

• Building on and extending our component and interaction libraries.

Skills and Experience

Essential

• Prior experience in a similar hybrid UX/UI design role with a focus on responsive and mobile app user experience design.

• Strong knowledge of responsive design for web and mobile interfaces technologies

• Able to juggle multiple mobile projects across various apps at the same time.

• Strong product and UX design experience in designing enterprise applications with complex user journeys for specialised domains.

• Proven expertise in data visualisation and business intelligence dashboard design

• Expertise in quick paper prototyping and visualising journeys and interactions quickly and efficiently

• Approach design solutions with both short-term and long-term scalability in mind, as products evolve over multiple sprints.

• Knowledge of designing and expanding design systems, including components, pattern libraries, documentation and emerging patterns for AI-assisted user experience.

• Experience of applying UX best practices, usability principles and WCAG accessibility guidelines.

• Strong communication skills with ability to convey complex concepts and workflows verbally and visually to senior stakeholders.

• Experience in conducting user research studies independently, including analysis and reporting, particularly usability testing sessions/lab testing, remotely and on-site.

Desirable

• Working knowledge of CSS, HTML, JavaScript, Java, Flutter, and other web and native iOS and Android front end frameworks.
