SEN Teaching Assistant - Southwark
A supportive and community-focused primary school in Southwark is seeking an SEN Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated team. This SEN Teaching Assistant role provides an excellent opportunity to support pupils who require additional guidance to access the curriculum and develop positive learning behaviours.
As an SEN Teaching Assistant in Southwark, you will work closely with pupils who have a range of needs, including ASD, SEMH, and speech and language challenges. Support will be delivered both within the classroom and through targeted interventions. The SEN Teaching Assistant will work collaboratively with teachers and the SENCO to implement individual support plans.
The role involves supporting learning activities, encouraging engagement, and helping pupils manage transitions throughout the school day. The SEN Teaching Assistant will also assist with monitoring progress, recording observations, and providing feedback to teaching staff. Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils is a key element of this position.
The ideal candidate will have experience supporting children with SEN and demonstrate a calm, empathetic approach. Strong communication skills, flexibility, and the ability to remain positive in challenging situations are essential.
