The role will require occasional travel to schools.

Principle accountabilities

1. Under the direction of the Human Resources Business Partner, provide a human

resources service to an allocation of around 30 schools within an agreed service level

agreement on a traded basis. Provide advice and guidance as needed to all schools that

trade with the service.

2. Plan the work for your allocated schools with the Human Resources Business Partner to

ensure that quality standards and deadlines are met, priorities are identified and

delivered to deadline and, where problems or concerns arise, they are resolved quickly

and effectively with the schools concerned.

3. Under the direction of the Human Resources Business Partner, provide high quality,

professional human resources advice, guidance and support to schools on the full range

of human resources issues including: organisational change, redundancy, redeployment,

case management, employment tribunals, industrial action, disciplinary, grievance,

performance, absence management, ill health retirement, recruitment, pay and terms

and conditions of employment.

4. Manage a personal allocation of employee relations case work. Influence, persuade,

coach and support school leaders to take appropriate action and manage risks in

accordance with agreed policies and procedures. Refer more complex cases to the

Human Resources Business Partner.

5. In collaboration with other team members, review and update audit documentation to

evaluate school compliance with human resources legislation and recommended

policies and procedures, undertake audits and report on findings on an annual basis.

6. Under the direction of the Head of Schools Human Resources, develop and undertake an

annual customer satisfaction survey and analyse and report on the findings.

7. Collate and record information in response to freedom of information requests and

other ad-hoc reporting on behalf of the Head of Schools Human Resources.

8. Support the Human Resources Business Partner to deliver change programmes in

schools including: collating contractual information, undertaking job evaluation,

calculating redundancy severance for affected staff, supporting redeployment,

producing and disseminating documents, collating and checking information required

for TUPE transfers, and undertaking job evaluation.

9. Arrange meetings on behalf of the Head of Schools Human Resources and Business

Partners, co-ordinating dates and attendance and taking notes as required.

10. Develop effective working relationships with constituent trade unions including:

supporting collective and local consultation and working in partnership to promote fair

and appropriate outcomes to individual human resources cases.

Knowledge and qualifications

1. CIPD or other recognised human resources qualification, or equivalent knowledge, skills

and experience.

2. Evidenced continuing professional development.

3. Understanding of human resources legislation and best practice.

4. Understanding of the principles of safeguarding children and vulnerable adults.

8. Effective written and oral communication skills including report writing and presentation

skills.

9. Numerate with the ability to understand, manipulate and analyse HR data.

10. IT skills sufficient to produce clear written reports, spreadsheets, presentations and other

documents, to use HR management systems to record and analyse data, and maintain websites.
