As our network continues to grow, we are seeking a Chief Medical Officer to provide senior clinical leadership across the organisation and strengthen our governance, quality and medical assurance frameworks.

This is a part-time senior leadership opportunity for an experienced medical leader who is passionate about patient safety, professional standards and the continual improvement of clinical practice.

The Opportunity

As Chief Medical Officer, you will help shape the clinical standards that underpin Welbeck’s specialist centres ensuring exceptional care, strong governance and professional integrity across the organisation.

Working closely with the CEO, Senior Leadership Team, Centre Directors and Clinical Quality Team, you will help shape clinical strategy while ensuring that robust governance frameworks support safe, effective and high-quality care.

You will oversee the development of medical policy, support quality and patient safety initiatives, and provide expert clinical advice on emerging risks, opportunities and trends within healthcare.

The role also plays an important part in strengthening medical leadership across the organisation, supporting senior clinicians and working in partnership with the Responsible Officer to ensure effective appraisal, revalidation and professional oversight.

Key Areas of Impact

Clinical Strategy and Leadership

Provide clinical leadership across Welbeck centres, supporting the development and implementation of clinical strategy aligned with organisational priorities.

Quality, Safety and Governance

Strengthen governance frameworks that support safe, high-quality care, overseeing quality improvement initiatives, patient safety programmes and clinical performance monitoring.

Medical Standards and Regulatory Assurance

Ensure compliance with professional and regulatory requirements, working alongside the Responsible Officer to support medical assurance, practising privileges and professional standards.

Medical Leadership and Workforce Development

Support and mentor senior medical staff, helping build leadership capability and a culture of continuous improvement across multidisciplinary teams.

External Engagement and Professional Representation

Act as a credible clinical ambassador for Welbeck, engaging with healthcare partners and representing the organisation within professional forums, including the Independent Hospital Practitioners Network.

Data, Technology and Innovation

Support the adoption of digital health technologies and data-driven insight to improve clinical and operational performance.

About You

You are a GMC registered doctor with significant clinical leadership experience, bringing credibility, judgement and a strong commitment to clinical excellence.

You have a deep understanding of clinical governance, regulatory frameworks and medical assurance, alongside a proven ability to lead improvement and strengthen clinical performance within healthcare organisations.

You are collaborative and influential, able to build trusted relationships with clinicians, executives and external partners while maintaining the highest standards of professional integrity.
