About the role
Hammersmith & Fulham is ambitious for its residents and communities. We are looking for an exceptional Director of Housing to lead the delivery of high-quality, resident-focused housing services and help shape the next phase of improvement, innovation and transformation across our Housing and Neighbourhoods department.
This is a significant senior leadership role, responsible for a broad portfolio including housing improvement and governance, resident and building safety, repairs and maintenance, asset management and capital delivery, homelessness prevention, allocations and lettings, neighbourhood services, estates and leaseholder services.
You will ensure our services are safe, compliant, financially sustainable and shaped around the voices and experiences of our residents. Working closely with Members, the Executive Director of Housing and Neighbourhoods, residents, partners and colleagues across the council, you will provide visible and inclusive leadership, driving continuous improvement and ensuring that our commitment to doing things with residents, not to them, is embedded in the way decisions are made and services are delivered.
We are looking for a strategic, compassionate and commercially astute housing leader with a strong track record of delivering complex housing services in a local authority or similarly regulated environment. You will bring extensive senior management experience, sound judgement, strong political awareness and the ability to lead large, multi-disciplinary teams through change while maintaining a sharp focus on performance, compliance, value for money and resident outcomes.
You will also understand the legislative and regulatory framework for housing, homelessness, health and safety, leasehold and tenancy matters, and will be able to translate ambition into practical delivery plans that improve services and strengthen confidence among residents, Members and partners.
In return, you will join a council that is committed to inclusion, collaboration and high standards of public service. This is an opportunity to make a lasting difference to residents, homes and neighbourhoods across Hammersmith & Fulham.
